I think my baby basset liked the free introduction to hockey at our local ice rink. Yesterday was his very first time on the ice, and this morning he is still wearing the free jersey they gave him. We have been looking and looking for a team sport he would like and were just about to give up for a while. About a month ago he told me he wanted to try all the sports that I did. I was so honored. I am thrilled that he is open to hockey. It was one of my favorites games to play.

In the middle of America, on Route 44, Amy Lewis has a plan to get to her grandma’s house in time for dinner. But she’s being pursued by a very bad wolf.

Galaxies away Loki, so-called Norse God of Mischief and Chaos, is waking up in a prison cell, strangely without a hangover. He has no idea what he’s done wrong–this time anyway. But he does know Thor is hiding something, Odin is up to something wicked, and there seems to be something he’s forgotten …

In this tale that is equal parts “Another Fine Myth,” “American Gods,” and “Once Upon a Time,” a very nice midwestern girl and a jaded, very mischievous Loki must join forces to outwit Norse gods, elves, magic sniffing cats, and nosy neighbors. If Loki can remember exactly what he’s forgotten and Amy can convince him not to be too distracted by Earthly gadgets, her breasts, or three day benders, they just might pull it off.

This first installment of “I Bring the Fire” is for anyone who suspects chaos, tricksters, and mischief makers might have their own redeeming qualities, and anyone who just wants an epic fantasy romp through contemporary Earth, ancient Asgard, and beyond!

Jesus Was a Time Traveler (WATT Book 1)

Time travel. Every sober scientist thinks it’s utterly impossible.

Of course, Phineas Templeton is no sober scientist in any sense of the word. A quirky English chap with a taste for fine scotch, Dr. Templeton builds a time machine at the behest of his mysterious Benefactor. His mission? To meet Jesus Christ Himself, and garner all of the fame, recognition, and accolades that writing an epic time travelogue would bring.

Unfortunately for Finny, Jesus is actually a fellow time traveler, a hippie named Trent from Colorado. While He explains that the past is fixed and immutable (“What happened, like, HAPPENED, man…”), Dr. Templeton realizes that he’s made a horrible oversight in his calculations, and can’t return to his own time period.

The only way home is to follow a list of very specific instructions his Benefactor has hidden on the time machine, which sends him on a madcap, at times hilarious voyage from watching his hero, Sir Isaac Newton, be berated by a high school physics teacher, to hunting dinosaurs, to rescuing two colorful American soldiers and fighting Nazis hellbent on his destruction.

All the while, Phineas is left to question his Benefactor’s true intentions. Just who is the shadowy person pulling the strings of a conspiracy thousands of years in the making? And why is Finny so key to their machinations?

A Hilarious Look at What it Takes to Live with a Hobby-Obsessed Spouse

You’ll love this funny, warm, insightful book about the trials and tribulations of one woman’s turtle-obsessed marriage!

You don’t have to know a thing about turtles or even care about them, but by the time you finish this hilarious, educational, and positively charming book, you’ll realize it’s not about turtles after all. It’s a cosmic New York love story… a guy obsessed with turtles and the woman who falls in love with him… and his chelonians.

When Anita Salzberg marries her husband, Allen, she discovers that she’s also married his “little” turtle hobby. While sports widows merely get dragged to the ball park, the football stadium, or the links, a turtle wife (or husband) gets hauled to the pet store, the pet wholesaler and the reptile expo. Over the course of the book and numerous improbable escapades, including sheltering a snapping turtle in the bathtub, ogling turtles having sex on the living room floor, and searching for turtles in pet stores across America, Turtle Wife becomes turtle lover.

The North Pole Challenge (Flea’s Five Christmases Book 1)

**WINNER OF THE BEST UNPUBLISHED NOVEL IN THE 2010 NEW YORK BOOK FESTIVAL**

Flea has always been different from other students in school. He’s not smart or athletic, he’s shorter than kids five years younger than him and his facial features are so pointy that everyone avoids him. His foster mother constantly warns him to avoid attention, though Flea has no idea who’s after them. But Flea has recently discovered several abilities that change his life forever: snowy weather follows him wherever he goes, he stops snowballs in mid-flight and he builds anything in shop class in the matter of minutes despite his lack of training. An appearance on The Great Build-Off – a popular construction game show – leads him to a magical place he thought existed only in Christmas stories.

At the North Pole, Flea feels even more like an outsider. In fact, this storybook village reminds him of every school he’d ever attended, complete with overachievers and underachievers, popular elves and outcasts, even elves who aren’t afraid to march to their own beat. But during his training to become a proper builder elf, he discovers that the North Pole has an arch-nemesis bent on invading the elfish lands and ending Christmas forever. With a war looming against the South Pole, Flea’s sudden appearance at the North Pole is no coincidence, as he questions his role in the fate of the world’s greatest holiday.

“The North Pole Challenge” is not your typical Christmas story. Everyone knows about Santa Claus, his elves and the North Pole but this book provides a fresh outlook on the old familiar tales. Imagine Santa Claus as a reclusive loner, Rudolph as a narcissistic whiner, the elves as cruel party animals. And no great story would be complete without an enemy of epic proportions, another familiar Christmas name with a wicked past never before told…

Until now…
