Every day when I read through all the books to add to my posts I run across a ton of wonderful cookbooks and books on how to organize your home. And every day I say to myself “Oh wow…I should cook something great”. I download them with every intention to pick out a wonderful recipe, go to the store and buy wonderful fresh ingredients, and make a beautiful meal. But I have yet to make a single meal and my house is still a mess. Maybe I should be reading the motivational books first.

Things Go Wrong For Me (when life hands you lemons, add vodka)
Rodney Lacroix
4.6 Stars (157 Reviews)
Genre: Biographies & Memoirs | Humor & Entertainment

FREE for a limited time

Things Go Wrong For Me (when life hands you lemons, add vodka) is a memoir of sorts, a roadmap of Rodney Lacroix’s haywire life thus far. From his childhood, through the raising of his own kids, to his vasectomy and post-divorce world … this book is more than just a culmination of outrageous stories woven into a cohesive narrative, it’s a testament for the “little guy.”

In this case, literally. Rodney is 5’3”. He’s very little. Almost tiny. Bank tellers offer him lollipops. He makes holiday money wearing green stockings and fake ears. But even though he’s small in stature, his stories and the laughs that accompany them are definitely BIG.

There’s no doubt, if you enjoy snorting milk through your nose, and you’re drinking milk right now … you’re going to love this book.

HUGO How Two Boys Learned of Life From a Killer Shark
Michael McEachern
4.8 Stars (26 Reviews)
Genre: Action & Adventure | Coming of Age

FREE for a limited time

Hugo is the story of two boys, friends since early childhood, and their quest to catch a giant shark that swam the waters of coastal South Carolina during the summer of 1960.From the time they first sighted the behemoth they spent every day and many nights in the creeks, rivers and off the beaches of Beaufort County trying to catch a beast that dwarfed their leaky wooden skiff.

It is a story of a simpler time. The boys’ boat had no depth meter and no compass. There were no cell phones, yet parents routinely allowed their children to vanish “down the river” for days on end to fish and explore and socialize, an easy parental willingness that ended when townspeople began being killed by a shark bigger than anyone had ever seen.

It is a story of adventure, and of a summer that began in innocence, but ended in a tragedy that forced the boys toward manhood.
