I can’t outrun my past…
Moving in with my brother was supposed to change my life and bring a little light to my darkness. But I soon learn I can’t ignore the very thing that haunts my nightmares. I still take a blade to my skin as often as I did before, punishing myself in ways that no one will ever understand. I am desperate to keep my secrets.
I meet Cole, and he’s the perfect distraction. He’s wild and reckless. He’s fun to be around, and doesn’t ask questions about my past. He accepts me as I am, scarred and twisted. But Cole is possessive and controlling. There’s something not right with him, but I can’t walk away.
Then there is Noah, my brother’s housemate. He’s deaf, but he doesn’t let it control or defeat him. He’s strong and resilient. Everything I’m not. How do I lie to someone who can’t hear my voice, but can read everything in between? When he looks at me, I feel like he see’s me like no one else has. His eyes ask questions that no one else has bothered to ask. My gut tells me to trust him with my secrets, but when Cole drags me into a deadly situation, it’s just one more secret to hold on to. If anyone finds out…
How can I find redemption when I’m well past the point of forgiveness?

Myrtle’s Penultimate Walkabout: Chapter 1: A Myrtle Drinkwater Astrological Investigator Mystery: 2
Linda Shelnutt

Genre: Metaphysical | Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

KINDLE GLOW BOOKS is publishing installments of each chapter in progress of this novel, MYRTLE’S PENULTIMATE WALKABOUT, the long awaited sequel to MYRTLE’S ULTIMATE MYSTERY.[MUM is the pilot for a cozy mystery series which opens with quietly warring witch covens.]Linda Shelnutt notes that she has several reasons [some of which she is not aware] for separately publishing these chapters in progress. Those are detailed in an ENDNOTE in this offering of chapter one.
One of our favorite mystery authors, Robert B. Parker of the famous Spenser detective, stated that he always did the very best he could in his writing. That’s all he [or anyone, including Hemingway] could do, God rest his soul. His books were written for readers who would naturally enjoy them as he wrote them. We’re betting that an author of Parker’s stature with this seasoned attitude would not have considered publishing chapters of a novel in progress. Due to the statement noted above, Parker said he didn’t read reviews of his work, though his wife did. Parker added that Hemingway was another author who avoided reading reviews or his books.Shelnutt identifies with Parker and Spenser’s attitudes, yet she is curious about reviews, even when they tell more about the reviewer than book, maybe especially then. As a parapsychologist Linda is interested in people, in understanding their tastes and motives, even if they’re not the same as hers.
Myrtle doesn’t have the status of Spenser yet!But it’s a buyer’s option to pay to upload this [short] chapter at 99 cents, or to watch for free promos or borrow free with Amazon Prime or from a library, or to ignore this offer altogether. If readers want to review individual chapters of a novel in progress, this is it!Something a customer says he likes or wants to know more or less about might spark a direction which may never have occurred without his review!Sometimes a word of encouragement can change the course of history… or in this case the courses of multiple alternate realities accessed through a stained glass window.

A note to those who have not read MYRTLE’S ULTIMATE MYSTERY, the pilot to this series:MYRTLE’S PENULTIMATE WALKABOUT gives away some facts in chapter 1 [and throughout the book] which spoil surprises in MUM.In view of this, MYRTLE’S ULTIMATE MYSTERY is often offered at a price reduction to make it more inviting to read that pilot first.
This current edition of chapter 1 has been updated with hyperlinks to the first 16 chapters of MPW.
