I guess it’s time to decorate for Valentines day. I know it’s two months away, and not really that big a deal of a holiday, but the stores have informed me that it is time and I better decorate hard. PINK! RED! HEARTS HEART HEARTS! What did you say? Now I need to buy a Stanley travel mug for $200? Annnnd. I’m out Valentine’s Day is just fine. I like the holiday that tells me it’s a great time for fancy chocolates. But for some reason I really hate Valentine’s Day decorations right after Christmas. The two just seem to clash so horribly. I am just going to do my best to ignore it all until about a week before February 14th. At that point I am going to get the ingredients to make lasagna, maybe pick up a few chocolates for Hubby and the baby bassets, and call it a day. I’m just going to relax until it’s time to worry about Easter.

Riot: A 1960s Love Story
by Charles Isaacs
(14 Reviews)
Genre: Political | Historical Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Two young lovers find each other just as the Vietnam War, the Antiwar Movement, and the Black Power Movement near their explosive peaks. Excitement, danger and heartache lie ahead. It’s September 1967. Steve Harris – white, idealistic, naïve — begins his freshman year. During that year, he will fight to end the war, fall in love, confront painful truths about his family, and be jailed and beaten by police. Through this crucible, he emerges with a transformed consciousness, of the world and of himself.
His awakening begins with a rousing antiwar speech delivered by Emma Gold, a Depression-era radical. When Emma introduces him to young Cat Crawford — inter-racial, brilliant and exotically beautiful – his bewitching is complete. The two students’ instant friendship blossoms before long into a passionate love affair. Their bond is tested, though, by the mounting demands of the times, and by their own deep-seated psychological issues. 1968 is marked by campus unrest, urban rebellion, assassinations, and political violence that leads the two into clashes with the Chicago Police and the National Guard. The story builds to a heartrending climax during the street battles surrounding the Democratic National Convention.

National bestselling author Rosie Genova is here with the latest, never-before-published entry in the tasty Italian Kitchen Mysteries!
When a Halloween stalker shows up on Mischief Night, Vic encounters lots of tricks, no treats, and one murder…
It’s the post-summer season in Oceanside Park, and mystery writer Victoria Rienzi’s hometown is preparing for one last blast on the boardwalk — its annual Mischief Night parade, held the evening before Halloween. While Nonna keeps her busy making treat bags full of Italian candy, Vic dreams up the perfect costumes for herself and Tim: Nick and Nora Charles, the famed detective pair from The Thin Man movies. Completing their look is a canine scamp, Willie, borrowed to play the part of Nora’s pet terrier.
But Victoria’s excitement is dimmed by the presence of a stalker, Edward Millman, who’s seen lurking around the Rienzi family restaurant. And who shows up at the Mischief Night parade dressed as Victoria’s book sleuth, Bernardo Vitali. But halfway through the parade, Willie sniffs out trouble, leading Vic and Tim on a not-so-merry chase that brings them to a dead body — Victoria’s stalker, Edward Millman. And in a scene straight out of Victoria’s latest book, Millman is found with a knife sticking from his chest, along with a nasty note: You deserved this.
As Vic digs into the details of the victim’s life, she wonders: Is it life imitating art? Or is there a more deadly form of mischief at work this Halloween?
