I should be baking cookies this weekend to hand out to everyone like I do every year. But… I don’t wanna. I’m not in a cookie mood. I bet I would get into a cookie mood if I bought all the ingredients and just started baking. Maybe I need to smell of melted butter and sugar to motivate me. Or… I could wrap myself up in a blanket, plop on the couch, and watch Hallmark original Movies all weekend. OH MY! I wonder how it ends! As much as I make fun of Hallmark original Christmas movies, I love them so much. I love predictable story line, the horrible fake snow, and the corny friends they always have. That’s what I need this weekend. Cookies can wait.

May Day, or Beltane, is approaching, and the veil between the world of the Land Spirits– the Fae– and the everyday folk of Vardo has grown thin.

The festivities will also celebrate the grand opening of Gideon’s Grimoire, a new occult bookstore on the Vardo Town Square, with a visit from famous fantasy author Dahlia Clarendon. Her appearance marks the launch of her latest book, Queen of Wands. Just as thousands of fantasy fans flock to Vardo, a murder causes the mayor to cancel the Beltane Festival.
Sparks fly as Perrie Spock, the town’s psychic mortician, partners with Sheriff Reg Woolaroc to solve the crime. Perrie’s psychic senses kick into gear as evidence of the Fae appear in her yard: a circle of mushrooms sprouts after a storm; mysterious lights pulsate from a fallen hawthorn tree. Are the Fae present? Another shocking murder outside the bookstore sets the town on edge and sends Perrie’s psychic senses into overdrive to solve the murders alongside the handsome sheriff.

Sitting Bull: A Life from Beginning to End (Native American History)
by Hourly History
(355 Reviews)
Genre: Education & Teaching | History | Politics & Social Sciences
FREE for a limited time
A prominent Lakota Sioux chief and medicine man, Sitting Bull was both a man of peace and a man of war as he sought to simultaneously fight and negotiate on behalf of his people during the westward expansion of the United States. It was his visions that inspired and led the Native American warriors to victory in the legendary Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. This triumph would, however, be short-lived, and Sitting Bull and his loyal band of followers would be forced to surrender their freedom only five years later.
Sitting Bull led the Sioux Nation through some of their most turbulent times as they faced the loss of their ancestral lands and were forced to move to reservations — reservations which steadily decreased in size according to the whims of the U.S. government and the discovery of new gold deposits. His death on the Standing Rock Reservation at the hands of Indian Agents in 1890 would help to spark one final uprising on the part of the Lakota Sioux, one that would culminate in the tragic massacre at Wounded Knee.
Sitting Bull was one of the most important figures in the history of the Native Americans and their struggle against the government of the United States. This book reveals his incredible life and legacy in full.
