The time has come. School begins on Wednesday. In a huge pile on the hall closet floor is all the school supplies I need for both kids. Right next to the paper bag of mystery stuff. I got lots of stuff gathering on the floor of that closet, but that’s not my main concern right now. I have completed my back to school shopping and I have it. I get a point for that. Now I just have to dig it out of that closet before 7am tomorrow morning. I am also going to practice my bob and weave technique. On the first day of school, if you stand in one place too long you get volunteered for everything. I learned that the hard way…bob and weave, bob and weave.

It started forty years ago with the brutal murder of a teenage girl. Now a whole flock of sheep has been mysteriously torn to pieces and strange ghostly happenings are on the increase in the sleepy seaside town of Hal’s Cove.
Seventeen-year-old Jeannie Rowlands soon finds herself right in the middle of a story that spans not only decades but other dimensions, and will end in a violent struggle for our very future on the shores of Hal’s Cove’s loneliest, most windswept beach.
Following a strange encounter when out celebrating her birthday, Jeannie’s once perfect boyfriend becomes distant and violent. And, to make things worse, she starts seeing and hearing ghostly apparitions on nearby North Shore Beach. As one part of her life falls apart, however, Jeannie finds herself offered an extremely well-paid job at a beach café and with a boss she hardly sees. She soon forms a kind of friendship with her most regular customer, an intriguing dark-haired boy she knows as Phay’n, who doesn’t speak a word of English and flees every time her boss returns.
With more ghostly happenings and violent incidents occurring every day, Jeannie soon starts to realise that all of these various elements are connected and that their story is one of epic love and tragedy that will involve the fate of entire races of people… including our own.

Roxie is sitting on the toilet when he tells her he wants a divorce. Stunned at first, she soon realizes her loveless marriage has killed her spirit and turned her into a bored trophy wife, isolated in a condo with an ironing board and an obsessive desire to impress people.
On a quest to find the carefree girl she used to be, she heads back to her hometown to start over. That’s when she finds the letter from her best-friend, Hope, in her luggage:
Dear Friend,
I’m really proud of you for taking this leap of faith. And even though I’m going to miss you like crazy, I understand why you have to go. My only concern is that you are going to be building a new life without my wisdom and guidance, which I think we both agree is an influence you really shouldn’t be without. No offense, Rox, but you don’t have the best track record when it comes to making decisions on your own. I mean, you are the one who married that jackass to begin with.
That’s why I’m volunteering to act as your sponsor. I’ve come up with a way to keep you moving in the right direction. It’s called the Good Life List and it’s your new syllabus. Remember when I threw that bachelorette party for Lindsay and everyone had to complete tasks in order to win a free day at the spa? This is kind of like that (except I’m not handing out hits of ecstasy and there aren’t any bonus points for performing oral sex in public). You need to complete each challenge on this list by the end of the summer. You always say there are no dress rehearsals in life, but I disagree. Right now you have no one to impress – (except me ;), no one to answer to – (except me 😉 and no one to please – (except me ;).
This is your in-between. This is your dress rehearsal. So go on now and make me proud, little one.
Love you! Muah XOXO
With the Good Life List in hand, and some help from a charismatic (and gorgeous) roommate, Roxie is only a few check marks away from reclaiming her life. She will forget about being a good wife, and start living a good LIFE – even if it means getting thrown out of a bar or skinny-dipping in her neighbor’s pool at 3am.

The whole town knows who those bones belong to, but when she also finds crates and crates of items from the sixties through the early nineties in the old root cellar, they wonder if the two things are connected.
A welcoming committee shows up at Polly’s front door and these women soon become her fast friends. Fortunately, the leader of the group is married to the Sheriff and he is there to make sure mysteries are solved and everyone stays safe, but when Polly’s old boyfriend from Boston shows up, that becomes a little more difficult.
