Well, that is one item I can check off my bucket list. Visit Disneyland during the Christmas season. CHECK! I have always wanted to go to Disneyland during the Christmas season to see the decorations, the lights, and of course seeing the Haunted Mansion all decked out in the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Oh my gosh, so cool. I did make one pretty big mistake before I left. I really should have trained for the amount of speed walking we had to do to get on some of the more popular rides. On the first day we made it into the park about 30 minutes before the rope dropped, and were at the front of the line to Frontierland. The plan was to get on the most popular Star Wars ride first. You can’t run in the park, but speed walking is allowed. As soon as the signal was giving, my baby basset and I made a mad dash to the far back of the park with about twenty million other people. Halfway there I started getting cramps and chest pains. I could not let my baby basset down, so I kept going. By the time we got to the line the chest pains had gotten really bad and I couldn’t breath. We made it though! It only took us 10 minutes to get on the ride. The trip did not get much easier from there. For three days we trekked all over Disneyland and California Adventure. We went on all of our favorite rides at least once. Some rides, like the Matterhorn Bobsled, we used the single rider line option and rode that ride six or seven times. I can honestly say my body is not meant for this kind of abuse anymore. Recovery is definitely going to take a few days. Maybe A week.

History teacher Addison Holmes is barely making ends meet in sleepy Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. When moonlighting at a gentleman’s club (don’t judge — teacher’s salary, remember?) leads to discovering her principal’s body in the parking lot, her stable life quickly unravels.
Suddenly unemployed and with a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Addison joins her best friend Kate’s detective agency. Turns out, years of small-town nosiness and silent judgment make for surprisingly transferable skills in the private investigation business.
As Addison digs deeper, she uncovers more Whiskey Bayou secrets than anyone bargained for. The suspect list grows faster than kudzu in July, and the handsome detective in charge seems equally determined to solve the case and drive Addison absolutely crazy — in all the best ways.

Gripping, epic and heartbreaking historical fiction, about one woman’s survival against all odds during the unbearable hardships of World War Two.
1939, England. Bess Dudley knows what it means to lose what you love. As daughter of a groom at historic Foxden Hall, she’s pushed herself to escape her humble background and train as a teacher, but she’s made huge sacrifices along the way. Just as Bess arrives in London to take up her first, hard-won post, the shadow of war sweeps over England. Bombs rip apart the city, and screeching air raids become a part of everyday life. London is thrown into chaos and schools close, taking Bess’s dreams with them.
Then Bess learns that James, the handsome heir to Foxden Hall – who she’s loved since childhood – is engaged to Annabel Hadley. Annabel is everything Bess is not – a wealthy aristocrat – but James never seemed to care about those things before. It breaks Bess’s heart to see him with someone else.
London is becoming more dangerous by the day and when Bess nearly dies in a terrifying air raid she knows it’s time to go home. Back at Foxden Acres, she becomes a Land Girl — farming the estate for wartime rations. It’s back-breaking work and a far cry from the life she dreamed of – even here, the horror of war leaves no life untouched.
Then the unthinkable happens, and Bess’s resilience and hope are tested to the ultimate limit. In a world torn apart by violence, she must choose between her heart and her duty… all while keeping a dark secret of her own.
