Lately I have been absolutely mesmerized by gift lists. Naturally there are a bunch popping up in my feed this month. “Top 101 Gifts for teens” “Top 10 gifts for the person who has everything”. You have seen them. I am basically done with my Christmas shopping, except for two people. ERG… They seems to be really tough for me this year, so I really love looking through the gift lists for ideas. All I have gotten from them so far are ideas for me. That doesn’t help at all. Kinda makes me feel a bit selfish or self centered. Maybe I can think of it a different way. I hate that I can’t find gifts for certain people. It makes me feel super bad and frustrated. I would never wish those feelings on the ones I love. Giving them a gift list for me so they don’t suffer is the exact opposite of selfish. Yup… that’s the ticket.

Winter’s End
by Barbara Pronin
4.6 Stars (699 Reviews)

Luring Nazi officers from smoky taverns to their deaths was not what Evi Strobel bargained for when she agreed to join the Dutch Resistance. But that is what she did until that fateful night she was saved from rape by a downed American Airman.

Nor did Zoe Visser expect to be picking pockets for Dutch ID cards for use by escaping Jews, much less leading frightened enemies of the Reich toward uncertain treks to the Belgian border – nor did Mila Brouwer, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy German collaborator, expect to be passing secrets learned at her father’s dinner table to help Resistance stalwarts blow up Nazi trains and meeting halls.

But four years into German occupation, with the Dutch surviving on boiled tulip bulbs, and Hitler tightening control ahead of advancing Allies, that is what they did. Follow them as Winter’s End traces a harrowing journey from the cobblestoned streets of Nazi-occupied Holland to an astonishing finale seventy years later and a world away.

So when her king orders her to lead an expedition to another world, Meli is caught between shock and terror. How can she navigate the Veil between worlds with no magic of her own? But with Alfheim threatened by strange, dark energy, she has no choice.

A threat that spans worlds

One among them, Meli, is a possible soulbounded, a link he’d believed lost with his previous love. But wounded and besieged with problems on every side, he can’t let himself be distracted. Poisoned energy is flooding into the closely connected realms of the fae, causing sickness, and Lyr must rush to find the source of the threat.
