In just three days it begins. That sounds ominus. Hee hee. In three days the Christmas lights will start going up and the inflatable Santas will be unpacked and staked to the front yards. As soon as the last piece of Halloween candy is handed out you can hear the totes being dragged out of storage, and the jingle jingle of bells being unpacked. I don’t mind at all that people are excited to get on with the Christmas decorations. It’s fun. I like to blend Thanksgiving and Christmas a bit in our house. I put up the Christmas tree, turn it on, but don’t decorate it. The lights on the gutters outside are also turned on at night, but I leave the reindeer in storage until the day after Thanksgiving. It’s fun and festive. I like to make the holiday season last as long as possible. It’s just a nice feeling.

Life in a small town isn’t always tea and scones… sometimes, it’s murder.
