After I had ripped out a few more plants from the backyard, I took a step back and realized that over the last month or so I have taken out about 90% of the plants in my yard. I stopped for two seconds and took a look around. It’s a little shocking I will admit. Am I going through something? I destroyed about five years worth of work. Hmmph. Maybe I am. YIKES! I promise I have a plan. The plan includes plants that are beautiful year round and a much easier and simpler look. I have been taking pictures so you will see it all, but I am actually wondering if I may have gone too far.

The only thing I hate worse than Christmas is Cooper Freaking Kellogg.
Liesel:
My reason for hating Christmas is simple: my mom loved Christmas, and now she’s gone. My reason for hating Cooper Kellogg is also simple: he annoys the jingle out of me. The all-star, all-ego player is on the injured list, and — lucky me! — we’re assigned to work on a special project together. Between awkward team events, a Christmas escape room, and some very inconvenient mistletoe, Coop and I are getting way too close for comfort.
Then we’re trapped in a blizzard overnight, and Coop’s cocky grin slips, showing the man behind the mischief. I start falling for his exasperatingly handsome face faster than the snow can pile up around my car. Unfortunately, my overprotective MLB dad and brothers have one rule bigger than Santa himself: no dating players. And it’ll take a lot more than Christmas magic to change their minds.

Ralph thought his biggest problem was a history test he hadn’t studied for.
Sarah believed a weekend buried in textbooks would be enough to get her through senior year.
They were wrong.
By Monday morning, the high school is surrounded by soldiers in hazmat suits. Seniors are divided: some herded onto quarantine buses, the rest locked inside. And a flu sweeping the globe is turning friends, family, and neighbors into something unrecognizable, something hungry.
Trapped on a bus with classmates getting sicker by the minute, Ralph knows it’s only a matter of time before one of them dies. Beside him sits a girl he just met in the nurse’s line, already burning with fever. The bus was supposed to be safe. Instead, it’s a coffin on wheels.
Inside, Sarah watches order collapse as teachers vanish and the infection spreads through the halls. The lockdown feels less like protection and more like a trap.
There’s no warning. No rescue. No time left.
To live, they’ll have to cross lines they never thought they would — because graduation isn’t the future anymore. Survival is.

The Deerslayer
by James Fenimore Cooper, Zenith Starlight Media
(624 Reviews)
FREE for a limited time
efore the legend of Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans, there was the young Deerslayer — brave, loyal, and untested.
James Fenimore Cooper’s The Deerslayer is the first chronologically — and the last written — of his celebrated Leatherstocking Tales, a monumental series that shaped the image of the American frontier.
Set in the untamed wilderness of 18th-century New York, the story follows Natty Bumppo, known as “Deerslayer,” a young hunter on his first great adventure. When his closest friend, Chingachgook, seeks to rescue his beloved from a hostile tribe, Deerslayer joins the perilous mission — facing brutal enemies, moral trials, and the eternal conflict between nature and civilization.
Through its vivid landscapes, tense encounters, and heartfelt moments, Cooper explores themes of honor, friendship, love, and integrity. More than just an adventure story, The Deerslayer is a poetic tribute to the frontier spirit and the moral idealism of a man guided by principle in a world of violence.
