I know its still August, but I was just thinking about aliens. Hold on… don’t let me lose you just yet. Hear me out first. So they say aliens are already here amongst us. Cool cool. So far I don’t mind them. In fact, I don’t even notice them. I have yet to see an alien… I think. Hmm. I think they are hiding on purpose because on Halloween. They would have made contact with us years ago, and all of us woulds have been in flying cars by now if it weren’t for Halloween. Think about it. Aliens land on earth, and they see us decorating our yards with skeletons, ghosts, and even BLOODY BODY PARTS!! Then we send our kids out at night to mingle around all of it getting treats. It’s weird. Personal I don’t decorate with gory stuff. I stick to witches and cute zombies. Things aliens would still give me side-eye for, but not too bad. Hmmph. I like Halloween. I’m not sure I would do too well in a flying car.

Elevator Pitch (Chicago Anchors Book 1)
by L.B. Dunbar
4.4 Stars (1,242 Reviews)

FREE for a limited time

Meeting Ross Davis, professional baseball coach and my sports crush, is a funny story involving a stalled elevator, the potty dance, and an attempt to get into his hotel suite. In my defense, that last one was an accident.

He came to my room instead with a bottle of scotch and a sad soul.

My one night was not a stand, but more like a lie-in. As in, we snuggled and talked and not another thing happened.
So, nothing surprises me more than seeing him again when he becomes the manager of the Chicago Anchors, my hometown pro-team, and our paths intersect once more.

It’s here the story gets fuzzy, because Ross Davis, that sexy silver fox, has a proposal for me.

Baseball players are notoriously superstitious, and Ross is somehow convinced I’m his good luck charm. One who brings him success by sleeping with him.

Only sleeping.

The problem with this arrangement begins when those funny, fuzzy things called feelings get involved. Eventually, his elevator pitch is no longer an easy walk in the ballpark or a simple sleepover in his bed.

And I’m worried I’ll be the one left in the outfield when the season ends.

Saving Worms After the Rain – Book 1: A Central Pennsylvania Novel of Mystery and History
by Paul Nelson
4.1 Stars (765 Reviews)

FREE for a limited time

Saving Worms After the Rain introduces readers to Aspen Winkleman, a young autistic man with a gift that goes far beyond observation-psychic abilities that allow him to sense what others cannot. When a missing-persons case rocks the quiet mountain town of Renfro, Pennsylvania, Aspen is called upon to help uncover the truth. What begins as a search for answers soon turns into a journey through the town’s shadowed history, where secrets of gangsters, moonshiners, and long-buried betrayals come to light.

As Aspen follows a trail of clues, his unique way of seeing the world reveals not only hidden truths but also the power of kindness, the courage it takes to stand up for what is right, and the extraordinary magic found in everyday life. Alongside the mystery, the story shines a light on Central Pennsylvania itself, its rugged mountains, winding rivers, and small-town eccentricities becoming as vital to the tale as any character. The residents of Renfro, quirky yet authentically drawn, add humor, warmth, and unexpected twists to Aspen’s investigation.

Heartfelt and adventurous, Saving Worms After the Rain is more than a mystery. It’s a celebration of resilience, empathy, and the beauty of difference-told through a voice that will stay with readers long after the final page is turned.
