Pirates! My house is being invaded by pirates and there is nothing I can do but hide my face in my hands. Seriously. That is the safest thing for me to do. The pirates of course are my hubby and baby bassets. Let me just say… Puppies are very dangerous creatures. First of all, I have no idea why, but little Rosey is compelled to stick her nose fast and hard into my hubby’s eyes. She sucker punches him every chance she gets. The man can’t take much more of the abuse. I will say that half the time he is sticking his face in her face, so he is kinda asking for it. Not sure what happened to my youngest baby basset, but I saw him walking through the house with a huge scratch across one of his eyelids. OUCH!! It looked pretty painful. I asked him what happened and he just shrugged his shoulders and said, “Puppy”. Okay. I have been keeping my reading glasses on. I don’t know about the rest of the family, but I need both my eyeballs. Crazy pup.

The children come — scores of them. Broken. Suffering. Learning to survive. These are not the clients Katie Collier expected to help when she went to work at the mental-health clinic.
But Katie and her husband can’t have children of their own, so her natural compassion flows. Still, Katie wonders why God gives babies to some women who seem unwilling to care, feed, love, shelter — even hold, and leaves other women barren.
Then one day it happens. A little girl named Bailey walks into Main Street Clinic… walks straight into Katie’s broken heart.
Forced to choose between her husband and her career, Katie fights to hold onto both in order to save Bailey. When her husband gives her the ultimate ultimatum, Katie finds the children of Main Street are not the only ones feeling cast out and lost.

RONE Award Finalist
A woman on board is bad luck… unless she is the key to finding a lost treasure.
The Pirate: Tristan Fisher and his brothers leave their father’s fishing boat and return to piracy, longing for the adventure and riches they once knew. With dwindling supplies and a restless crew, fate finally smiles on them when a storm at sea leaves behind flotsam. However, it is more than just boxes and barrels of supplies they find. Tristan and his brothers fish an old woman out of the water who says she knows the whereabouts of a treasure, and is also their grandmother!
The Scottish Lass: Gavina Drummond’s life is turned upside down when her father puts her up as a wager on a gamble and then gets killed. Now dressed like a boy with her hair cut short, the enemy has inked a treasure map onto her back and burned the map in view of the pirates who attack. Having to pretend she’s a boy to save herself, Gavina’s luck runs out. Tristan, the pirate lord decides to take her along with them as his cabin boy.
Gavina needs nothing short of a king’s treasure to pay back her late father’s gambling debts and to buy back her brother’s freedom. This might be her answer, except that she can’t read the map on her back and is going to have to trust someone enough to tell them her secrets.
Tristan seems the likely choice since searching for treasure is what he does. But if she tells him, she’ll be vulnerable, not only because she’s a girl, but because she’ll have to disrobe in front of him in order for him to see it.
Will a dark-hearted pirate discover he’s unknowingly brought a woman on board again, and this one might be the key to finding his coveted treasure? Or is a treasure of silver and gold not really what he desires the most after all?

Dirt Poor And Lovin’ It!: Revised And Updated
by Kate Singh
(86 Reviews)
Genre: Business & Money | Crafts, Hobbies & Home
FREE for a limited time
Once long ago, I wrote a book with this title and it was a boring little thing. Today I have all kinds of experience with those lean times that come and go. I am a nerd when it comes to homemaking and being frugal, however, frugality has its season. This book is all about that season and how to prepare for it, enjoy it, and have a rich and luxurious life despite small paychecks.
And who says being broke is a bummer? In our house, we decided to unplug from the internet and downsize our life. We live with no stress and the days are simple. We focus on learning, playing, and hobbies. I don’t do all the hustles I used to juggle to make money, instead, I focus on family and my writing career. In downsizing the paychecks we have gone back to how we used to live on one small paycheck. Brew some coffee and join me in this new (and old) journey. We will be looking at running a home and living a good life with a small income from all aspects.
