I am certain that I am part racoon. I see shiny objects and I have to grab them. My partner in crime and I had a blast this weekend hitting up a few of my favorite thrift stores. We spent two hour in one store alone. That might seem a bit excessive, but the store is packed with awesome items and very fun people. The customers must have been regulars because a lot of them were socializing like they new each other, and any new people were quickly invited into the group. Not in an annoying way. You didn’t have to join the conversation, but if you wanted to you could. This made it very fun to shop, so spending two hours in the place was easy. I was obsessed with picking up Christmas ornaments, new and old. Once we were done shopping we spread our loot on a couch in the store and negotiated a price. $20. For a huge pile of treasures!!! Yes please!

Feels Like Home (Hope Falls Book 1)
by Melanie Shawn
(805 Reviews)
Genre: Romance
FREE for a limited time
For Amanda Jacobs, dealing with the pain of losing her beloved Dad is the toughest thing she’s ever gone through, and it comes with a lot of complications, as well – like taking over the family business, Mountain Ridge Outdoor Adventures. It makes her miss the simplicity of being a teenager, when she was surrounded by her amazing friends, The Fabulous Four, and she was madly in love with her Dad’s right hand man, Justin Barnes. His sexy smiles and deep brown eyes had made her heart race in a way she’s never felt before or since. When the Fabulous Four unexpectedly show up on her doorstep to support her through this complicated time, things seem to be looking up for Amanda. But that’s not the only surprise visit in store for her…
Justin Barnes left Hope Falls ten years ago, in the dead of night, and didn’t think he’d ever set foot there again. That was just fine with him, except for one little complication: Amanda Jacobs. He had fallen in love with her unruly blonde curls and sparkling sapphire eyes, but she had been a teenager then, five years younger than he – too young for him to act on his attraction. Still, he’d missed her every single day of those ten years. When Justin receives a phone call that his former mentor has passed away, he knows he has to return to Hope Falls. Justin just has one question – will the girl that once adored him have grown into a woman that can’t stand him? Or will she still be the only thing in the world that feels like home?
**Author’s Note: Each Hope Falls full-length novel can be read as a stand-alone**

Brian is surrounded by family and friends at his 54th birthday party. He has an important job & contributes to society. He’s the picture of health at a time when life expectancy has been extended by 40 years or more. But New America says his time is up. Set in Raleigh, North Carolina in a dystopian New America, “55” presents ageism in its cruelest form. Anyone over the age of 55 is deemed to be a drain on society because they consume too many resources and do not contribute enough. Brian lived through the devastating famine that precipitated the rise of the new society, and he raised his family under the new rules. The luxuries of his former life, such as the ability to have a family pet, are now reserved only for the ruling class, who are allowed to live nearly indefinitely because of advances in the pharmaceutical industry. Brian’s daughter, a rising political star in New America’s drone program, is thriving in the new society. But she can do little to save Brian and appears to simply use him to advance her own career. Resigned to his fate, Brian carries out the duties required of him in the final year at his job, including training a young protege eager to advance. Brian’s work involves the testing of the government-mandated microchips that are required to function in every aspect of life, including buying food, attending school, and going to the doctor. He soon discovers a new sinister use for the microchips and is determined to sabotage the project and save himself at the same time, all while dealing with his daughter and her powerful allies. Brian’s cause is more important than he realizes, with the potential to impact the entire world. But, all is not as it seems. The circumstances that brought the former United States to its knees were no accident, and Brian’s daughter is in a position to set them all in motion again. Brian finds his own allies in the lawless “bush country,” as well as the truth about New America.
