This weekend my youngest baby basset will be marching with his Junior High School band in the annual Petaluma Butter & Egg Day Parade. This is a huge day for the small town of Petaluma, California. It is when 20,000 people or more gather together and celebrate butter and eggs. That’s 20,000 people who like butter and eggs so much that they get together once a year to march through town, some dressed like chickens, or cows, and even eggs, for about five hours. The parade takes a long time. It’s a short route, but a lot of participants. Some people belong to multiple clubs and most clubs or organizations have a float, so it’s not uncommon to see the same people a few times throughout the day on different floats. I love Butter & Eggs Day. It makes me want breakfast for some reason. I am really hoping this year I see someone dressed like butter. I have yet to see that and it seems kinda wrong.
