I wanted to give you all an update on the ten Monarch caterpillars that I was lucky to find in my newly planted Milkweed garden. All ten that I gathered successfully went into their chrysalis form, and have been hanging out in the safety of the caterpillar prison..er.. habitat. I am happy to report that one is going to emerge within the hour, and two more will follow probably tomorrow! I am so excited and proud of my little Monarchs! I could show you pictures now, but it’s not much to see, and I don’t want to disturb them too much. I promise pictures when they are ready. YAY!!

Little by little, stop after stop, three-year-old Danny Becker wanders further from his inattentive, overworked dad on a San Francisco subway car. In the rush of people stepping onto and off the train Danny is bumped to the platform when the doors close behind him. Strange, strong hands carry him away.
As the train leaves the station, Danny’s frantic father searches the moving car in vain.
Danny Becker’s abduction evokes the unsolved murder of a toddler, Tanita Donner, the previous year, resurrecting the city’s anguish.
Tom Reed, a disgraced reporter with The San Francisco Star, pursues the new abduction. But he is tormented by the fear that he may have caused the suicide of an innocent man suspected of murdering Tanita Donner a year ago. His editor wants him fired. His wife has left him to wrestle with his demons. His life coming apart, the Danny Becker story is Reed’s last chance at redemption.
The lead investigator on the Donner case is one of Reed’s only remaining friends, San Francisco Homicide Inspector, Walt Sydowski, an outstanding detective and lonely widower haunted by the fact he cannot solve the girl’s heartbreaking death.
Both men grapple with the past while they race the clock to learn the truth behind the nightmare that has descended on the Bay Area.

Dragon’s Call (Dragon Heir Book 1)

After her Celtic kin proved too big a bunch of bastards to bother with, Rowan sought solace among witches.
The first book in a magic-laced, fast-paced fantasy trilogy. With dragons.
After the Breaking, not much was left. I assumed it was a case of magic gone bad — until I discovered my goddess mother had broken the world. She didn’t like it that I’d turned my back on the pantheon. My long tenure among witches rubbed salt into the wound.
After a confrontation where Mommy Dearest fessed up — and lacked the decency to bat an eyelash about the widespread destruction she’d caused — I was digesting what to do next when a dragon showed up.
Yes. A dragon.
The beast didn’t talk with me or anything, but it flew overhead wreaking havoc on a goblin horde. Witches are old souls with kind hearts, but they’re not particularly strong magically, so I was grateful for the help.
And suspicious as hell. Why a dragon? Why here and why now? More importantly, why was he — she? — helping me? Part of me didn’t want to know, and another part was certain I’d find out anyway.
