I have said it before and I will say it again, there is not one rock or plant in my garden that will ever be bored. I once again ripped up a few plants and rocks in my one little trouble flowerbed to make way for the gorgeous peony and a frog bird bath that hubby got me for Mothers Day. The perfect spot in the garden was where I had put a little in ground ceramic sink/bird bath. OUT YA GO! There was also a foxglove, but it was half dead, ugly, and infested with little black aphids, so I just dug it up. GROSS! Now I am off to the hardware store to get fresh mulch and pretty it up a bit. Below are a few before and after pics to enjoy.

Readers who enjoy James Patterson, Elmore Leonard, and Robert B. Parker should love every moment of this book.
Danny Acuff, a Memphis Detective and prior Force Recon Marine, figures his life can’t get much worse.
His marriage is on life support. And he’s been forced to quit the Memphis Police Department, which means he’s just shit-canned his dreams of joining the FBI.
He’s left his great career and future dreams in a final, desperate attempt to save his marriage. Moving from Memphis to East Tennessee, he takes a detective job beneath his talented abilities. He’ll be working in a quaint, sleepy, little town, which should give him time to focus on his marriage.
Or so he thinks. It turns out, Danny couldn’t be more wrong. About saving his marriage. Or about having more time. Or how safe (and slow) he thinks this job will be.

Billy’s War: A courageous little boy in war-torn Britain triumphs against the odds
by Tony Whelpton
(103 Reviews)
Genre: Literary Fiction | Historical Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Billy’s War by Tony Whelpton had me hooked instantly, and young Billy stole my heart…
What can being at war mean to a nine-year-old? Not much, you might think, but if the boy in question is a war orphan… The date was Thursday 8 May 1941. Britain had been at war with Nazi Germany for 19 months. Billy Frecknall was only nine years old, but what a character he turned out to be! Like many boys of his age, Billy to all intents and purposes no longer had a Dad, because his father had enlisted in the army in the early days of the war, and Billy and his Mum didn’t even know where he was. But that night saw the biggest air raid Billy’s home town of Nottingham had experienced – an air raid which the author experienced personally and recalls vividly – and there were many casualties, including Billy’s Mum. Billy was fortunate to survive, but life as an orphan, especially an orphan being brought up in an apparently hostile family, left a lot to be desired.
What could a little boy in that situation do? Grin and bear it? That would be the only option for many. But what if the little boy in question is resilient, resourceful, intelligent and, above all, driven? Driven by a desire which becomes an obsession, and aided by the innocence of a child of his time, which meant that he trusted everyone until he had reason to think otherwise, he sets off to find his Dad.
In the course of his quest he faces up to many obstacles that would have caused a less resourceful boy to blanch and give up, but he doesn’t – and he is blessed also with a charisma that makes most people he encounters take his side without hesitation.
If you read his story, you’ll quickly see why Billy captures so many hearts and, with all the odds apparently stacked against him, wins his war.

The Shattered Stars: Breach of Contract
by Vance Huxley
(43 Reviews)
Genre: Science Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Bobby B is given a choice: death or the Army. His choice leads him to become a Timer – a group of soldiers so disposable that only about 10% survive a ten year tour. Because the corporations that run society value property more than life, they don’t even give them real bullets. Timers are only issued plastic flechettes so they don’t damage precious buildings and equipment. Bobby and a few other Timers join together to make their own squad, Beebi’s Basteds, which does things their own unorthodox way but still manages to keep them alive.
As the missions get harder, so do the men. They work their way up the military ranks faster than ever – giving their elite squad extra attention – good and bad. As they gear up for their biggest mission yet, none of the Basteds could imagine where their squad would end up – space.
A military science-fiction thriller that will keep you glued to the pages. Breach of Contract – The Shattered Stars is only book one in a riveting new series by accomplished author Vance Huxley.
