We are on fire again. Must be Monday. The fire actually started this past weekend, but last night it blew up and is in the next town over, but on the side of town furthest from us. At this time I am not worried, but once again we are trapped in our homes because the air quality is so bad. The good news is I have mostly finished putting up my outdoor Halloween decor, and it is so dark outside that the lights look good during the day as well. YAY!! Hubby and the baby bassets put super bright blue lights down the new dry riverbed and it looks AMAZING. There is a good chance that it will stay like that all year. My house is going to look like a Vegas Casino with how lit up it is. Today I am going to put on a Hazmat suit and mask and maybe finish up on a few lights around the witch. If I can get a good picture I will post it.

Brooks is a gambling man, who wants revenge against his father’s killer. His plans are complicated when Fiona lands in his lap after a winning hand.
He doesn’t have time to be looking after a woman, especially one who should have known better than to come to a strange country on her own. But, somehow, she has become his problem.

by Tom Barber

Genre: Action & Adventure | Literature & Fiction | Suspense
FREE for a limited time
Young counter-terrorist cop Sam Archer arrives for work at the Armed Response Unit expecting a quiet day.
But unbeknownst to him, a storm is coming.
Three men have already been killed that morning. One committed suicide by the River Thames. Another was strangled in his car in Washington D.C. And the third was shot in the face in his high-rise New York apartment as he slept. The deaths seem random, thousands of miles apart. But they are all connected. By a shocking event fifteen years ago.
And this is only the beginning.
Archer, Chalky and the rest of the Unit suddenly find themselves plunged into a ferocious and violent confrontation, fighting for their lives. The enemy they are up against are brutal, highly trained, well-armed and anonymous. No one knows where they have come from. No one seems to know who they are.
But they have a vendetta. They will never forgive or forget, or show mercy.
And for some reason, they’re hell-bent on killing ten specific people before the end of the day.
As the Unit tries to find out who these killers are and locate the remaining targets so they can protect them, it becomes a race against time to see who can get there first. As the counter-terrorist unit and the vengeful enemy come up against each other all over the city, Archer and the team soon realise two things.
This enemy is more proficient and deadly than any they’ve ever encountered.
And one of their own ARU men is on the extermination list.

30-Day Whole Foods Slow Cooker Cookbook: Irresistible Recipes for a New and Healthier Life
by Vanessa Olsen
(92 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine
Over 80% of Americans have a slow cooker. If you’re one of them, you need this cookbook, and you need to start cooking healthy whole-food recipes with it!
The slow cooker as we know it has been around since the 1970’s, and has yet to go out of fashion. It’s convenient, easy to use, easy to clean, and as you’ll soon learn, the perfect way to prepare whole-food meals for the whole family.
What are whole foods? It is food as nature intended it – unprocessed and unrefined. So many foods in stores today have had their nutrients stripped out, and are built back up with artificial add-ins, sugar, and other junk to make them bigger and taste “better.” If you eat this food, the results are poorer health, weight gain, and vulnerability to diseases as serious as diabetes and cancer. With whole foods, however, all the nutrients have been preserved, so you’re getting the real deal. It’s grass-fed beef, butter, wild-caught fish, organic vegetables and fruit, whole-grains, and so on. You’ll be getting all the nutrients like fiber, calcium, and fatty acids that your body craves.
The slow cooker is one of the best ways to prepare whole foods, because the nutrients are preserved better than other cooking methods, thanks to the low temperatures. The slow cooking process also creates rich flavors, which are made richer when you add in spices and herbs, so you’ll never have to worry about healthy food being tasteless. This book walks you through everything you need to know about slow cooking, from good brands to how to troubleshoot common problems. You’ll also find a chapter on how to stock a pantry full of whole foods and what you can expect to feel like after a month of eating well.
The heart of the book is, naturally, the recipes. You’ll find good eats like:
• Ham and spinach frittatas
• Sweet ‘n sour chicken
• Spicy sloppy joe’s
• Dijon and apple pork chops
• Clam chowder
• Butternut squash and bean chili
• Homemade pizza sauce
• Almond banana bread
You’ll even find a section just for vegan food, if that’s more your style. Whether you’re a pro at the slow cooker and want to eat more whole foods, or you’re familiar with whole foods and want to use your slow cooker more, or you’re new to both, this cookbook will be a great resource you’ll return to again and again.
