Waking up this morning I realize I really should have petitioned harder to designate the day after the Super Bowl being a national holiday. It’s not that I even went to bed late, I didn’t. Its that I ate way to much and spent too much time yammering on and on with my friends. Once again, I didn’t even watch that much of the game. I did however spend a lot of time testing out the spinach dip, and I am pretty sure I ate an entire box of lemon bars. It hurts to sit in a chair right now. I feel like I should be laying out flat. This is an icky Monday morning, I want to call a timeout.

But when Salem learns that her ex-husband Tony is accused of the murder, she wonders if God might be steering her toward a chance of helping him and thereby redeeming herself — or at least a chance to make up for the pain she caused him when they were married and she was drinking.
With the help of her new octogenarian BFF Viv and the emotional support of her dog Stump, can Salem keep her act together long enough to sow some good seeds for a change?

“It concerns real life, relatively ordinary activities, drawn with the precision of a Norman Rockwell painting.” ~The Omaha Reader
Set in the Dust Bowl of the American West, this true account of a child coming of age on a 1920’s Nebraska farm, recaptures an era. Young Lucille Marker experiences survival during the Depression, one of the worst dust storms in history, and finally the disintegration of the close-knit community in which she grows up. Readers who like the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder or Willa Cather will enjoy Farm Girl. It takes place on the Marker farm, located near Red Cloud, the locale of Willa Cather’s Nebraska novels. Farm Girl takes one back to a time and place that no longer exists in American culture. Richly photographed throughout with over sixty authentic photos documenting the people and places of the story, this historical, easy-to-read book is suitable for use in the classroom.
