OH NO! I just can’t. I will not under any circumstances adopt another dog. No, I didn’t see a little critter I just had to have, but I find that little Junebug really needs a friend to play with. She has her playdates every now and then, but I really feel she needs a regular friend her size. Poor old Jethro is so patience with her. Junee jumps on his face and bites his lips, and he just stands there and does nothing. Once in a while he might snap at her a little, but I think he knows she is just a little puppy. My cat Sinny is the same way. Junee is all up in his face, and Sinny just takes it. But, let’s do a little body count shall we? Two dogs, one cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens. I can tell you now, the guinea pigs want nothing to do with Junee. Henry tolerates him, but that’s because his condition doesn’t allow him to run away. He psychically can’t get away very fast, so Junee would just hurt him. Coco just screams as soon as Junee gets anywhere near him. No… I will not get another dog. Maybe I will get Junee a cell phone. She can play a few games on that thing.

Scavenger Girl: Season of Atchem
by Jennifer Arntson

The book that people can’t set down…
Una and her family are forced to live on the fringe of society as Scavengers, or “Scabs” as the Citizens cruelly refer to them. Stripped of their birthright and cast aside they are shunned by the people of Ashlund. An unwelcomed stare, an unwelcomed interaction, or simply a Citizen having a bad day, all could result in the Citizen calling for the execution of any Scab they cross paths with. It is wise to stay in the shadows. There is no question that her family’s bond is strong, but the law of the Authority is stronger… and soon the Authority will come to collect her. After all, the family is on borrowed time already.
When a night of torment and truth reveals well kept secrets, Una takes new freedoms – free from the Authority, her family, and possibly her fate. Pulled between the life she’s always known and a world where status and rituals are everything, Una struggles to understand a culture that has rejected all she holds dear. As the season of Atchem comes to an end and she learns who she really is, will Una find the courage to do what it takes to ensure her family’s survival, or will she find the faith to follow her heart?
In Una’s world there are five distinct seasons primarily driven by the three orbiting moons. Each book guides you through a different season in the most life changing year of Una’s young life. With their own threat and peril, each season forces Una to face life-threatening decisions not just for herself, but for other’s as well. The Scavenger Girl Series will draw you in and won’t let you go. From pulse quickening action to heart felt romance, from tears of sadness to laughs in between, see for yourself why this book has been dubbed a genre-bender. The characters will make you fall in love with them, or hate them in the deepest way, while some may make you do both at the same time. You will not be able to abandon this story even after you turn the last page and close the book…

A DARK CRIME THRILLER SET IN THE UNDERBELLY OF DETROIT’S GANGLAND
“Who am I? You don’t need to know. I don’t tell anyone my name, not even with a sack over my head and a gun to my skull. Consider yourself lucky. If I told you who I am and why I’m in Detroit, I’d have to kill you. Why? Because that’s who I am… a killer.
What do I hope to achieve? Let’s just say that still breathing tomorrow is good enough. I’ve lied, cheated, and killed in nearly every city in the world. Detroit will be no different. Nothing stands in my way, because I’m ready to die. That’s my edge.
Did you buy all that? I used to. But I don’t know who I am any more. Not since I met her, anyway. People change. Maybe even me. Or maybe I’m lying to both of us.”
ONE THING IS TRUE. DETROIT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN
