Last night I came down with a very exhausting sickness. I blame it on the ammonia I was using earlier that day to clean the house. Apparently the very strong cleaner opened up my mind and a lot of creative juices started oozing out of me. Seriously, I couldn’t stop the flow. My mind kept coming up with adorable ideas and I just had to implement them immediately. I now have a cute wire and glass thingamajig that displays my air plants in the cutest way. A new herb garden in the kitchen 9grow light has been ordered), a very attractive change jar made of jute and Victorian style paper. Finally I also put together a cute little display in the corner of the living room with an old brass ship thingy, that I am not sure exactly what it is, but looks awesome. I’m a bit worried because I have to clean the bathroom this morning and I am hoping the ammonia doesn’t have the same affect. I’m exhausted!

When Japanese ex-pat Naoka meets Henri, a middle-aged woman who is both wildly unconventional and is hiding something that she refuses to share, she finds herself introduced to a collection of oddities who share the same hindrance. They are all insomniacs.
This chance meeting soon provides Naoka with a much greater problem, when she and Henri become inadvertently caught up with the Fresno-DeBeers family, whose daughter has been kidnapped.
Henri is determined to ‘help’ the police with their investigation, and the Fresno-DeBeers to find their daughter, and enlists the assistance of the unwilling Naoka as part of her efforts.
As they get deeper and deeper into the case, living among oddballs and eccentric insomniacs who live their lives during the hours of darkness, they encounter the often weird and sometimes dangerous characters who inhabit the night.
But can they really make a difference to the case? Are they really able to provide anything of value and will they find the Fresno-DeBeers’ daughter before it is too late?
The Insomniacs’ Club is a page-turner that will have you up all night (in a good way).
Vasily Pugh, author of ‘Basically Frightened’, returns with his unusual take on crime fiction, sisterhood and suspense all whipped together with a healthy dollop of his trademark wit.

A Tropical Frontier: Tales of Old Florida
by Tim Robinson
(13 Reviews)
Genre: Historical Fiction
FREE for a limited time
The Southern Frontier:
A road-less, watery wilderness, uninviting and intimidating to all but the most stouthearted and adventurous. While great cities were springing up ih in places with names such as St. Louis, Denver, and San Francisco, the lower peninsula of Florida endured. Here, the panther, the alligator, and the bald eagle remained safe from the restless, meddlesome hands of civilization, continuing as they had for eons past.
Renegade Indians, pirates, hurricanes, and man-eating animals – not to mention poisonous snakes and bloodthirsty hordes of mosquitoes – reigned supreme. It took a certain kind of person to boldly venture into such an inhospitable environment, a place where a man had only himself and his family upon which to depend. It took men and women with not only vision, but backbone and grit, people like the MacLeods, Dawsons, and Hackensaws, true pioneers who confronted whatever came their way, together, as a family.
From shipwrecks, to Indian uprisings, to buried treasure; from blockade runners, to murderous beach tramps, and the sad, lonely life of the solitary beachcomber, Tales of Old Florida takes the reader back to a singular time and place that will never be seen again.
Above all, Tales of Old Florida is an epic saga of survival and prosperity, love and love lost, and most importantly, the power of the human spirit to prevail.
