I finally found something I am better at than my hubby, and it’s the Pokemon Go game. Despite all the working out I do, my hubby is stronger, faster, and can jump higher than me. I pretty sure about the jumping thing, although we haven’t tested it. He wins 90% of all games we play, both video and board, and that also includes ping pong. I was a ping pong champion at my family picnic back in 1991, but he blew me out of the water the last time we played. So now that I am actually doing better at this Pokemon Go craze I am making sure I rub it in his face every chance I get. It’s especially nice since my baby bassets are crazy about Pokemon, so I am looking like the greatest mom in the world right now. I am going to just ignore the fact that the reason I am winning is because his phone keeps locking up every time he tries to play, and mine is running smoothly. I’m not the reason the game doesnt work well for him, so I’m just going to take this victory.

Meet a remarkable woman. Read an unforgettable love story.
Johanna Swan is a survivor. She escaped death twice — as a child in China during the Boxer Uprising of 1900 and twelve years later as a young woman aboard the ocean liner Titanic. Now a forward-thinking suffragist and an heiress besides, Johanna intends to use her intelligence, energy, and fortune to help poor and immigrant women. Johanna manages life the way she manages her money. Invest sensibly. Never be obligated. Reduce risk. Keep control of your assets. But the emotional turmoil in her family and the growing confusion in her own heart when it comes to charismatic, sentimental and — she fears — deceitful Drew Gallagher are interfering with Johanna’s orderly existence. For all her logical decision making, it will be the shifting emotions of desire and despair that finally force Johanna to realize that love is more complex and life far less predictable than any business venture.

When Niko’s parents are brutally murdered by the Republic for being Genetic Terrorists, she must learn how to survive in the wild, in life, and in love. With nothing but her pack for a home, she travels the fringes of the Colonies by train and by foot, and collects memories of the Vagabonds who teach her how to live with her new freedom. She first encounters Xavi, the boy who heals her heart before he breaks it. He simply leaves her for a nice pair of Legs, and Niko must learn how to move past unexplainable heartbreak. She soon discovers the Tracks are no place for love because everything moves a little too fast. Before Niko has time to mourn her rejection, she encounters a different kind of pain — a pain in the rear named Flea. Niko’s subsequent adventures cause her to question her beliefs about the Genetic Engineering Guild, the Republic, the Revolution, and her heart.
In this unconventional science fiction novel, a coming of age story is set against a utopian backdrop, and Niko just happens to be on the wrong side of perfection. Her tale is propelled by non-stop action while her past is never far behind to fill in the gaps. It’s a twist-driven page turner that’s incredibly difficult to put down once you pick it up.
