I know if I watch a horror or scary movies right before I go to bed I will have nightmares. Seems logical, right? I am about as confused as you can get as to why on earth after watching Return to Amish, I would have dreams of Johnny Depp (as Jack Sparrow) carpooling with my baby bassets to school. He was the principle and needed a lift. He was not a good passenger either, and kept nagging me to make stops all along the way, causing us to be late. I don’t care if he is the principle of the school, I hate being late. In the movies he seems like he would be awesome to know, but in real life dreams, Jack Sparrow is a pain in the tushy.

In the world of the Atomic Sea, mutants thrive–fish-people, lobster-people, turtle-people–the list goes on. But in the country of Ghenisa, many of them are disenfranchised and relegated to life in the vast, alien sewers beneath the capital city of Hissig. There Tavlin is taken by Boss Vassas’s goons and given an edict by the Boss himself: find out who (or what) committed the crimes… or else. In no time, Tavlin is hip-deep in danger, dodging spies, cultists, mobsters, monsters and more sewer mutants than he can shake a foul-smelling stick at. But things get really complicated when Sophia, his old flame, shows up.

The Turn of the Screw – Special Edition (Illustrated + Audio links)
Henry James
(578 Reviews)
Genre: Horror | Short Stories | United States
FREE for a limited time
First published in the U.S. in the anthology collection The Two Magics in 1898, Henry James’s classic ghost story The Turn of the Screw has been enthralling readers for over a century and shows no sign of losing popularity as new generations continue to discover this chilling masterpiece. The novella’s anonymous narrator is a young woman, a parson’s daughter, who is engaged as governess to two seemingly innocent children at a remote English country house. What initially seems a idyllic soon turns nightmarish, as she becomes convinced that the children are consorting with a pair of malevolent spirits. These are the ghosts of former employees at Bly: a valet and a previous governess. In life, scandalously, the two of them had been discharged as illicit lovers, and their spectral visitations with the children hint at Satanism and possible sexual abuse. The book amply fulfills its pledge, laid down in the first few pages, that nothing can touch it in terms of sheer “dreadful — dreadfulness.” This edition is presented with original illustrations by Victorian artist Stella Langdale and includes links to free audio recordings of The Turn of the Screw.
