Today is the last day of school for my baby bassets. I am not quite sure who is more excited, the kids, me, or the teachers. For the past two days the boys have been bringing bags and bags of school work and supplies home. I just picture the teachers feeling the excitement of their impending break building with every piece of work that is shoved in a students backpack. I know they love their students and they have done such a wonderful job with them all year, but there are almost twenty five of those little crazy beasts in their class, and even if they are the perfect class with absolute angels, that has got to take a toll on them. Happy Summer Vacation to all those wonderful, awesome, and oh so patient teachers!!!

Woven throughout the journey are interesting diversions and little known-facts. Most of all, the book is an entertaining and humorous account of travelling in this fascinating corner of the earth. Those considering a trip to Western Canada will certainly get plenty out of the Best Laid Plans, but so will the armchair traveller, and anybody who can see the humour in the world around them.
