L'autore

Frank Kusy is a professional travel writer with nearly thirty years experience in the field. He has written guides to India, Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Of his first work, the travelogue Kevin and I in India (1986), the Mail on Sunday wrote: 'This book rings so true of India that most of us will be glad we don't have to go there.' Born in England (of Polish-Hungarian parents), Frank left Cardiff University for a career in journalism and worked for a while at the Financial Times. India is his first love, the only country he knows which improves on repeated viewings. He still visits for business and for pleasure at least once a year. He lives in Surrey, England, with his wife Madge and his little cat Sparky. Frank is also author of two cat books for children - Ginger the Gangster Cat and Ginger the Buddha Cat, both available on Amazon.

If you are reading this review in order to decide if buying Rupee Milllionaires is worth it, then yes, I can assure you that it most certainly is. It’s one of those rare books which grabs you right from the start and has you speeding through an incredible journey, wondering how it’s all going to turn out. Rupee Millionaires has it all: travel, adventure, humour, drama, suspense....you name it! Never have I felt such a variety of emotions in one book. I felt fear, laughter, worry, excitement, anticipation, relief...You just never know from chapter to chapter where this story is going to take you next. Every night I found myself saying, "Just one more page...just one more page" - unable to put it down. Be prepared as it is very addictive!

So this is Frank in London trying to make a living from selling wholesale goods from India. He seems to have no option but to team up with an unsavoury character called Spud. With chalk and cheese personalities, Spud and Frank embark on a mission to make as much money as they can selling their silk and jewelry. Spud is determined to become a Rupee Millionaire and will do whatever it takes to get rich. In this story we are constantly travelling backwards and forwards to India, immersed in all the colour and beauty that India is thanks to Frank's incredible descriptions. While Frank and Spud stock up on supplies, we get to know Frank's Indian friends and business associates well and find ourselves constantly cringing at Spud's lack of respect for anyone as he tramps through life stamping on everyone's personalities. We also discover that wholesale market trading is not easy and involves being one step ahead the whole time. As the story unfolds, we see Spud’s intimidating character become more aggressive and unpredictable. We follow Frank as he tries to remain on his Buddhist path. We find ourselves willing Frank to ditch Spud and go it alone in his business. We feel Frank's emotions when his dear Mum comes to India and finally gets to see the country where Frank has spent so much time. He introduces her to all his Indian friends who treat her with love and respect. We silently rejoice when Frank finally meets Madge, the love of his life...

What a book! I felt completely and beautifully exhausted at the end - in the way you hope to feel after experiencing such a hectic, mind blowing journey! I could have continued reading this book night after night as I just didn't want it to end. Frank is a fantastic story teller. Like all his books, Frank's stories are inspiring, exciting, funny, easy to read and grip you very tightly leading you on the most incredible journeys. This is the fourth book of Frank's that I've read. Each one is unique, but they are all connected in some way. I am about to start the next one in Frank Kusy's collection...can't wait!!!

Rupee Millionaires is just screaming out to be on the big screen. Danny Boyle - where are you?! This is a movie waiting to be unleashed!! If this comes out on the cinema, I will be first in line to buy tickets!

I guarantee you will get hooked!

Second book that i read from this auteur, i think just excellent. Fun,sad,angry,a continual fihgt. On a un peu de mal à s'y retrouver dans tous les personnages mais on se prend facilement au jeu du commerce, bankable or not....

The novel is funny. Author has a way with words & the situations created are hilarious. But it appears he visited a different India that I have been born in & resided nearly all my life. His depiction of India is most unflattering. We all watch the world with coloured lenses. He needs new lenses to appreciate India.
