The White Flamingo (English Edition) Formato Kindle
".NEWMAN writes with a flamethrower. He's terrifically gifted, and enormously energetic, and in THE WHITE FLAMINGO he builds up, layer by layer, like lacquer, the everyday reality of "Fun City" with such intensity that he creates a nightmare town so terrible that even the advent of a modern-day Jack the Ripper can only make it a tiny bit worse. Serious talent, devoted (in this case, anyway) almost entirely to the noir side of life in a city that has more than its share of noir."
Timothy Hallinan.
FUN CITY is run by corrupt officials and respectable gangsters wallowing in luxury mansions in the hills high above the harbor, the beach, and the neon jungle.
Vice worker TAMMY is found mutilated on top of a pool table, an effete pervert, and son to the 1970's pin-up beauty queen once known as THE WHITE FLAMINGO, is locked up.
Can Detective JOE DYLAN find THE KILLER before he becomes one of the hunted?
THE WHITE FLAMINGO is a break-neck neo-noir crime thriller from beak to tail feather. This novel, the third in the Joe Dylan, has been optioned for adaptation into a feature film.
A Jack the Ripper copycat killer hunts in the bars of a tropical tourist resort. This is the third in the Joe Dylan Crime Noir detective series. WORDS ABOUT THE JOE DYLAN SERIES:
"NEWMAN JOINS more established writers such as Christopher G. Moore and John Burdett in an exploration of the garish netherworld of private eyes, prostitutes, pimps, gangsters, cops, and dirty tricks". Tom Vater - Chiang Mai City News.
"Everything about the White Flamingo screams pulp: style, prose, dialogue, and content. Despite this being a neo-pulp, it's influenced by the original pulp masters of the 40's and 50's. Yet the sensibilities are completely modern, which result in a very fascinating hybrid of classic detective work and gritty ultra-detail. I mean you'll have to dodge body fluids as well as bullets. Not for the kids." - Ish Galvan.
"AN UNDERGROUND rocker himself, Newman understands that similarity and leaves plenty of original fingerprints all over this hardboiled mystery. [,,,] Newman’s specialty is hard-hitting, brass-knuckles prose that works well in the crime fiction genre. [...] The author also excels in succinct, smartly written characterizations. [...] Newman has added a sharp, poisoned arrow to the quiver of neo-noir." - Jim Algie - Author of Bizarre Thailand
"A WORLD where most of the humans are behaving like primitive bugs and reptiles, just wandering around eating whatever they can whenever it is available and trying to have as much sex as possible before they die." - Bangkok Noir Artist Chris Coles

James A. Newman has done it again! The White Flamingo, the 3rd in the Joe Dylan series, is a gripping gritty noir mystery that takes the reader on a dark ride through the alleyways of Fun City.
Pattaya, Thailand can be drawn in many ways. But none can outdo the grimy portrait presented in James' latest work. The novel begins at a crime scene. A young bargirl is shown brutally murdered. Her dismembered body spread liberally across the billiards table on which she lay. It is a gruesome sight. And it is a sight! Newman writes the scene so expertly that the images quickly come together in your mind. They are not easily dislodged.
This is the beauty of The White Flamingo. We see a writer coming into his own and taking complete control of the talent that lies at his fingertips. After the brutal murder comes a simple observation: "He guessed that the wrong guy would be locked up. The wrong guy was always locked up in Fun City. If somebody cared about the wrong guy, they would pay The Detective to find the murderer...It was the way things rolled in a city where corruption wasn't a kink in the system: it was the system."
Welcome to Joe Dylan's world. Welcome to Fun City where James A. Newman is "The Right Guy" to be your guide!
