Author Jennifer Miller was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but now calls Arizona home. Jennifer’s love of reading began when she was a small child, and only continued to grow as she entered adulthood. Ever since winning a writing contest at the young age of nine, when she wrote a book about a girl with a pet unicorn, she’s dreamed of writing a book of her own. Quickly learning that dreams don’t just fall into your lap, she knew she had to chase them herself and not be afraid to dream a little bigger. Most importantly, she is a wife and mother, and is very lucky to have a family that loves and supports her in all things. She also has an unhealthy addiction to handbags and chocolate covered strawberries, neither of which she cares to change.

I have had this on my Kindle for a little while. Why oh why did it take me so long to read it?
At first I found it a little difficult to get into. It took so long to build the storyline, the descriptive writing was so on depth. Once the characters were built the flow become much easier to follow. I've loved the whit and friendship between Pyper and Livvi, their friendship believable. We all have that one that got away, to read of Livvi and Like reconnecting, was beautiful. Deacon is a great bad guy and have we seen the last of Rebecca?
What a cliff hanger at the end, oh my goodness!!!
I cannot wait for the next instalment in this series and would certainly recommend this series to others!

"Pretty Little Lies" is a well-written, easy-to-read, romantic comedy with contemporary, believable young adult characters whose behaviors and easy conversational style and vocabulary reflect their current generation. Olivia, Luke, Deacon, and Pyper grab your attention, if not your heart. From the very first chapter, the story line captured my attention - and engaged me until the very last paragraph. The fierce best-friend loyalty exhibited between Olivia and Pyper is one most gals crave. The laugh out loud humorous sections rendered broad smiles and genuine belly laughs. The fashion tips have caused pause in both my wardrobe selections and in the time spent in front of my full length mirror each morning and have rendered subsequent people watching exercises even more enjoyable. Even the few PG sex scenes were tastefully written and invoked the passion consistent with young and redeeming love. Admittedly, the ending resulted in a slight sigh, but only increased my eagerness for the next work in this series. (And when will that be?) In addition, I look forward to additional books by this young, talented author, whose potential seems to rival that of other better-known and highly regarded writers. Kudos to Jennifer Miller for following her dream and providing an excellent read for all!

Humorous, Witty, Fun, and I love Luke!

Olivia and Luke were high school sweethearts, with a love so intense and a connection so strong, that they knew without a doubt they were meant to be. As they prepared to set off on their own to college together, they are unexpectedly torn apart when a pretty little lie comes between them. Olivia heads to college in Boston while Luke tries to follow through with their initial plans, without Olivia. Now on their own in different cities, they spend the years of their young adult lives trying to replace the love they once had. Olivia ends up with a failed marriage, and decides to return back home to Chicago.

As she tries to start over with the help of her enthusiastic best friend Pyper, Olivia slowly begins returning to the happy, outgoing person she once was. Olivia jumps back (more like pushed by Pyper) into the dating scene and we are treated to some hilarious situations she somehow survives. She knows that Luke is somewhere in town, but is unprepared for the moment they finally come face-to-face. Luke, dreaming of this day for 7 long years, makes it very clear that he would like to resolve their past issue and work on being friends again. With so much hurt and sadness still weighing her down, we watch as Olivia becomes reaquainted with Luke and tries to determine what her heart really wants.

Olivia is a great character. Her humor and love for fashion and decor are evident throughout the book. I enjoyed watching her grow. She was smart enough to realize that the relationship she was in was not a healthy one and despite being forced into the situation of leaving her husband Deacon, she realized she really was not that heartbroken about it. It wasn't the same sadness and devestation she felt when she lost Luke. Being back in a safe and comfortable environment, she slowly starts coming back out of her isolated shell and begins to work on what she really wants in life. She owns up to past errors and judgements, and uses them to better herself.

Luke...I LOVE LUKE! He is a successful businessman, smart, determined, patient and full of love. I loved seeing his personality being revealed through his interactions with Olivia. He is a funny, sexy, romantic guy! Readers will definitely fall in love with him as much as I did...it's really impossible not to! There's a lot revealed about his character throughout the book from his interactions with Olivia and Pyper. His heartfelt speeches made me swoon, and I often wondered how Olivia was strong enough to resist him! I wish I could say more about him, but I do not want to include any spoilers. Just please trust me, you'll love him and want him for yourself.

Pyper is Olivia's best friend. A type of best friend that every girl in this world needs. Pyper is fun, loving, giving, and caring. She knows Olivia so well, there's no way that Olivia could lie to her...Pyper sees right through it. She pushes Olivia towards better things, but can read Olivia in a way that she knows when to stop. Pyper and Olivia have such a strong bond that often times words aren't even needed, they know exactly how to take care of one another.

The humor embedded within this book was right up my alley. A little sassy, and some "OMG, I can't believe that happened!" moments had me laughing out loud! I loved the fashion tips at the start of each chapter, which were strategically aligned with some form of hilarious situation within that portion of the book. Olivia's dates were so entertaining and funny, I don't know how she was able to follow through with some of them...I think I would have run away from a few!

Watching Olivia and Luke work towards finding a relationship that they were both comfortable in was great. They struggled through sorting out their feelings, letting go of the past, and determining what each of them truly wanted from each other and the future. It was heartbreaking to see Olivia as she was flooded with memories from the past. Many memories gave me butterflies in my tummy as she recalled significant moments in their relationship, from the time they first met, through their initial declarations of love, until the moment the lie tore them apart. There were many happy memories but I couldn't help feeling the sadness as I empathized with her when realizing it wasn't what she currently had, everything that could have been, everything that was lost. When Luke wormed his way back into her life, I loved seeing him work hard to regain her trust. I loved seeing the determination he had for proving to her that she was never forgotten. I loved watching as her eyes were opened to the truth and as she began living confidently, in control of her own life, and following her heart. Seeing their relationship grow and re-develop was sweet and gratifying.

With a twist that still has my heart pounding, Jennifer Miller concludes her debut novel and has me waiting on the edge of my seat for the continuation of Luke and Olivia's story! I definitely look forward to reading the next book!

I truly enjoyed this book! The humor, storyline, loveable characters, and an ending that left me wanting more all added up to be a great read for me.

Loved the intense love between the main characters, quite funny in parts. Did not like the fashion tip at the start of every chapter. Cannot believe the cliff hanger :O very abrupt!Ovetall a good read.

Disappointing is an understatement

Story line is cute, but predictable. The writing style is not my cuppa tea. The author spends too much time describing layouts of rooms and furnitures which does not add anything to the scenes. It just detracted from the scene.

I also found the interaction between characters a little painful. The dialogues were so mundane and boring, especially the interaction between the two best friends. It would have been far more effective had she left few things unsaid. The constant need to tell each other that they love one another is a little over the top.

Overall I found the characters immature, and did not have any depth. I would expect this behaviour from teenagers not people who are in their twenties!

I could not finish the book. Huge thumbs down.
