L'autore

Michaela Thompson is the author of more than five mystery novels, all of them originally published under the name Mickey Friedman. She has worked as a newspaper reporter and a freelance journalist, and has contributed mystery short stories to a number of anthologies.

Vanessa Daniels has worked as a professional actress in theater, film, TV, commercials, and voice-over for almost two decades. She holds a BFA in drama from New York University and is a member of SAG-AFTRA and the Actors' Equity Association.

Great mystery set in the Florida of the fifties. Very descriptive prose that makes you feel the heat and humidity. Lots of action and twists and turns. Definitely recommend and I plan on reading more by this author.

The book is based around St Elmo, Florida 1952 and the moonshiners with one family fighting another over the rights to supply illegal whisky. One still site is unaware that one of the men Josh Burns is an undercover agent from the Beverage Department in Tallahassee and his cover is almost blown when a local congressman daughters is found floating in the bay and Josh is seen running away from the area by the local store owner Lily who reports what she has seen to the Deputy who is her son in law. When the locals believe a hurricane is heading towards them the still owners have to try and protect the sites. A great mystery.

I really enjoyed this book, especially for the trip into the past in a part of the world which is unique. I'll certainly be looking for more of Ms Thompson's books.

This book had a good story line and interesting characters. It was well written with few, if any, errors. The downfall for me was that there were two many characters. If was hard to follow until about halfway through . Still a good book that I would recommend.
