Meredith is managing okay since she left her hometown of Crossroads, Montana—she’s working, paying the rent and putting food on the table for herself and her child, at least. A single mother from a rough background, Meredith knows life is not all roses, and that she will have to work even harder than ever with her new responsibilities. But she has no idea of the obstacles that she must overcome, now that she has moved back home to claim her inheritance and hopefully reunite with Pete. The story continues in the sequel, The Pink Victorian.

I just finished the book and I can truly say that I was sad to see it end. The characters are real and you easily become attached to them. The writting style is excellent because the story unfolds in such a natural way that it makes you feel as if an old friend is sitting at your table sharing coffee and a tale about her life. Crossroads Serenade is more than a romance novel, it is a story about an enduring love for a man and the many choices we have to make in life. It is also about the family we are born into and the family we choose to create that makes us who we are today. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

Meredith returns with her son Grant back to her hometown of Crossroads
to claim the Serenade, a bar/hotel/restaurant from her late Uncle Duck
Maddocks, a man who treated her like family when her own family didn't.
She's hoping for a fresh start as she is greeted by old friends, but she's
hiding an old sad secret and as time goes on, more secrets come to light
as the hotel part of the Serenade is burnt down. Meredith almost dies,
but who did it? Is it an enemy that she knows or someone else that she
never expected? Must read!

one of the best love story/mystery that i have read in a long time! when i say love story it's not a corny mushy one. it took me threw every sing emotion with every character, very visual writing and captivating the whole time.
i'm hoping she will write a sequel to the book because it left me wanting more!
i lent this book to my mother and she couldnt put it down either.
this is a must read!

This book has a good premise. A woman moves back to her home town with her young son to run the hotel she inherited. Returning is bittersweet and a lot happens, good and bad. It was a pretty good story, I just had trouble getting into it. The writing style was different in that I felt like I was reading someone's diary more so than being immersed in a story. It is told from the main character, Meredith's point of view and I just felt there was too much "I did this, they did that...I said this, they said that". I also felt her main love interest was very one dimensional. Perhaps because we only hear her point of view. They immediately reconnect shortly after her return, which is fine. But then he is in and out of the picture for months at a time and she continues to wait for him because he is the love of her life. Granted, she is busy and has other bigger things going on in her life, but I just found it frustrating that each time they reconnected, she just accepted him back. There is one particular thing that he handled really poorly that bugged me. Without giving too much away, I just couldn't believe he stayed out of touch for so long, no matter what was going on in his life. It seemed inexcusable to me. Overall, this one was just okay for me.

A bit of a strange story but very enjoyable. Meredith and Pete's story was off but the story of Jenny was beautiful!
