Johnny Ray has a passion for life and adventure that he loves to share with his readers. While he loves adventures that are new, interesting and challenging, making friends that share his passions is a special gift. Johnny lives in Clearwater, Florida where he works full time as a writer, and he can be often found in one of the hundreds of coffee shops along the beach working on his next novel. He belongs to the Florida Writer Association where he recently won the Royal Palm Literary Award for best thriller, the Romantic Writers of America, and the Mystery Writers Association. Different, full of action, mystery, and suspense: impossible to put down

Noella, a young judge in fear of her life, turns to her ex-lover, Vance, for help. She gets it, fast. An attempt is made to kidnap her as she leaves his office, uncertain he will take her case. Vance, also ex-cop, now a private investigator on a mission to prove she was wrong to have him thrown out of the force, shoots one man dead, and fires into a vehicle carrying others. Noella needs 24/7 protection, from a stalker prepared to kill and the passion she still feels for Vance. Packed with action, from violence to explicit sex, the only disappointing words in Her Honor’s Bodyguard are The End. The only consolation, the next book in the series: Rescuing Her Honor.

Missing romance and suspense!

Noella is a judge and receiving threats calls. She goes to Vance for protection. He happens to be an ex- boyfriend which she also had suspended indefinitely from his police force job in a previous trial. She promises to help him prove he's been framed in the case that lead to his dismiss from police work (though she is the one who presided the trial ...) If she knew he was framed, being the judge, should she have proposed and managed his forced resignation?
The minute she comes out of the encounter, although she has been followed and been receiving those threat calls for weeks, someone tries to kidnap her...

The plot idea in itself could have been really interesting, but too many details are not congruent, for instance, being a judge, why should she condemn someone to losing his professional and social status if she doesn't believe he did the bad deed and certain he's been framed?
Then, the first scenes of "violence", "abduction tentative" and further threats against our heroin are not even suspenseful, the reader doesn't even get in the least preoccupied nor feel any excitement from the scenes. The author also tries to bring up an eventual romantics encounter between the two protagonist, but I reached 30% of the book before abandoning it, and up until then the most sensual or sexy thought is that she probably fills out her business suit too much, even though you can't see under all these clothes...

So the author, at least at 30% of the book, has failed in his goal, as up until now, this romantic suspense is neither romantic, nor thrilling.
I gave up , even though I get many free books and pursue reading the average ones until the end.

Her Honor's Bodyguard

Have you ever read a book that kept your attention the entire time? It kept getting better and better? After reading it, you want there to be a sequel and a movie about it? Well, I went into reading Her Honor's Bodyguard with no expectation.

I liked the other 2 books I had read by Johnny Ray and thought, "It will be hard to live up to those past 2 books." However, I have to say this book was better than the first 2 by this author.

Why? The plot, characters, storyline, words seemed to have a perfect interplay that flowed throughout the entire story. There were no out of place sentences or words that didn't quite feel right. Instead there were symmetry between the it all. It made for a great read!

The book was intense and could be seen as addictive as the tv shows, New York Undercover, CSI & The Wire. Also it was even better than the movies, Blow and Bodyguard. It was a story that had so many obstacles that kept presenting themselves for both Noella and Vance. The life of illusion and reality was easily molded together to represent an authentic plot and believable characters.

Having a man who wasn't rich his whole life, who had to encounter real struggles that the average man goes through and even those criminals experience, made for an interesting storyline. Vance could be considered a man with very bad luck and a life that would have most drinking from a glass bottle every day. However, he is driven to do what he knows he can to clear his name, as well as that of his father.

With the crimes he and his dad have committed, maybe everything can't be cleared but he hopes that he can make it in life. He may have went foggy and not remembered every detail, when he was accused of some bogus charges. He felt everything wasn't adding up. Something just didn't seem right.

He knows he is dealing with some dirty people; he just doesn't know how he can get answers and prove his innocence. However what he doesn't expect is to have his services requested by a past love he left, his beautiful ex, Noella Peterson. He also doesn't dare believe what happens in minutes of them reconnecting. Life could actually get more twisted!

There are some very worldly characters that don't play by the rules in this plot. There are some many events that kept you guessing but not quite sure what would happen for quite some time. These are some events that cause Noella and Vance to be thrown back into each others lives. Who is telling the truth about the past? Who will be proven innocent? And who guilty? Will Vance seek revenge for his life ending up in shambles, by an ex who ruined his and his mother's life?

Life is definitely a mess and it may not get better? What to do in that case? Vance is broke and has been for many years. It seems that life isn't fair and has dealt Noella a prosperous hand. Will Vance assist or take advantage of his work being needed by her? Will he finally give her what was coming to her-payback?

What roles do their families play in the demise that led to his dad's life ending? To him and his ex splitting? Justice is not prevailing and there are some life threats that lead to death. This is a story that all readers of all genres would like because once again, Johnny Ray has put together the perfect plot. The characters are even more addictive to read about. The cover and title give you a hint to what the book is about, but the plot has one waiting for a sequel. If you want a sequel, you want to read more. This is a book that made me feel fulfilled. One that I didn't want to end.

My big problem is, I suppose, nit-picky but within the first few pages our hero shoots someone with a non-existent .".45" Magnum Revolver then later gets out a black plated "glock" which have plastic hardware such as slide and grip. Research! research! research!
