Chivalry is a lost art in our world and in the world where the undead are up and traipsing about feasting on flesh it's something much needed, yet something that can just as easily get one killed. In Chivalry is Undead, Stephen knows the rules. He and his friend Jake have a zombie survival plan. They have stocked up on supplies and have a plan should the undead decide to join us for a bite. He, also, knows that chivalry will cause him killed. So what does he wind up doing? Yep, saving the girl, showing generosity to strangers and risking his life to get his friend Jake and Jake's family to a safer location.
Chivalry is Undead does not give us a list of the do's and don't of the zombie apocalypse, but it does give us cause to consider how our choices would effect us. The characters are well written and pretty believable considering the environment in which they reside. Filled with intense action, good choices, bad choices, life and death Chivalry is Undead kept me on the edge of my seat wondering just how far Stephen will go to maintain his chivalrous nature before it gets him or someone he loves killed.
If you are like me and enjoy a little heart, a bit of thoughtfulness to your zombie apocalypse, then give Chivalry is Undead by M.A. Rogers a read.

From the first chapter, written as a blog in the normal world of Stephen, our soon-to-be zombie killing hero, I was hooked. Stephen thinks it's weird that half of the people at work are out sick, he senses things are a little bit off, but he stops by his favorite bar after work anyway, where Jessica, the lovely bartender of his dreams, pours him bourbon as they trade stories of the days' strange feel. Neither of them yet know that they are living in a new world, one controlled by zombies, and their flirty banter reflects that.
Home on his computer, Steve quickly realizes that Texas, from San Antonio to Houston, has gone zombie. He finds Jessica and the two of them head out for Houston where Steve's buddy and his family are dealing with the same big city zombie situation. Steve's plan is to find a place out in the country where they can all be safe while waiting out the war. Things don't go exactly as planned, but the plot buzzes along at a nice clip and the shambling zombies prove no match for Steve's posse, loaded with SUVs, baseball bats and guns.
Well into the story, Rogers name checks "Night of the Living Dead" the only zombie movie I've ever seen. Loved that and loved quick-thinking Steve and Jessica. Their romance in no way keeps them from cracking serious zombie skull. The gore I thought would be my biggest obstacle proved to be plentiful and colorfully descriptive, but just another part of this intense story, the first in a series by a new novelist whose work shows promise of more and even better things to come.

by M. A. Rogers
This is one of the best books I have read this year. I am a slow reader so it normally takes my about a week to finish a book. I so enjoyed this book that i finished it in 3 days. The story is told by Stephen and his use of his daily blog post. This aspect of telling a story was fresh and new for me and is defiantly one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much. The next thing that M.A. Rogers does with his characters is make them feel like real people. In too many zombie books the main character does some really crazy stuff, in Chivalry is Undead (Just Another Zombie Love Story) , Stephen is just an average Joe that has a 9 to 5 like the rest of us when the zombie Apocalypse happens. With out giving spoilers M.A. Rogers uses a wonderful knowledge of survival skill to bring up some very interesting dilemmas that we could face during a Zombie Apocalypse. Another thing I really enjoyed was the references to classic zombie movies in this book, i was able to pitcher exactly what M.A. Roger's wanted me to see from those movies. I would say that this a must buy and a must have in anyone Zombie Survival pack.
