A most enjoyable read. When I starred I had some doubts, but they were quickly swept aside. It was a wonderful balance of two worlds meeting as fae and human fought a common enemy. Nicely written and easy to read. I recommend it to anyone interested in urban paranormal. Going to buy book 2 now.

I haven't read many books that are centered around faeries, let alone having a faerie as the main protagonist.

In the beginning of book, I felt a bit overwhelmed. It felt like I was expected to have certain knowledge of faeries? I'm not sure if that was intentional.
After a while, it became more comfortable because of what both Eilidh and Quinton learns.

The plot is great, moves at a great pace. Characters are nicely developed. I also like how the romance felt more natural than a lot of the romance books out there, so that was a pleasant surprise.

(Minor Spoilers ahead) I'm saddened with some of the casualties in the end, but understandable and realistic given the circumstances. And in pleased that the characters' deaths made an impact to me, as that shows my attachment to the characters.

So yes, definitely a recommended read. I think it will be a pleasant surprise for most readers :)
Would love to check out the next books in the series!

This is one of those rare treats that goes against the tide of urban fantasies who's primary feature is some form of the leather wearing, sword wielding 'tougher than nails' female stereotype that always makes me roll my eyes. The characters in this are all very well rounded and believable, having motivations that extend well beyond the substance of the story and carrying a good depth that we can imagine before the story has started and (for those who don't die), well after it is over.

I started reading this book 2 days ago and haven't put it down even once. There are a fair few slow parts and parts where it's clear the author was getting a grasp on just where things were going next but the interesting twists on fae mythology and the location (one I've never read about, actually) kept me invested in the world and wanting to know more. As I said, it's definitely rich in character and you can easily imagine walking along side these people as they go through the story. This is what kept me hooked.

Unlike many of the UF's I've come across, there is no clear definition of 'power' in the sense that our protagonists are just as confused, hurt and frightened of the supernatural (and mundane) elements of the world in which they inhabit. There's no sense that any of the characters are completely 'at ease' with their situation which keeps things from getting too predictable when they encounter one another, even as 'friends'. This is especially true of the sexual tension aspects which aren't mashed together but woven through in a realistic way that puts those involved off balance in more ways than one. It's great fun and a true pleasure to read something as 'human' as this.

I've been told the books following this one are even better, even if they weren't, I'm intrigued enough by the setting and consequences of the characters' actions that I would read about it just to see what happened next. I bought the next book without even thinking about it and I look forward to seeing where it takes me. :)

Ce livre comme tous les débuts de séries est une introduction qui est plutôt engageant on ne tombe pas dans le déjà vu pas mal d originalité
L héroïne est une fée exilée de son monde depuis 25 ans (qui vit a proximité de celui des humains mais reste inconnus d eux ). Elle a été exilée car elle avait des pouvoirs incrontrolables
Elle est témoin d un meurtre sur lequel enquête un flic qui se trouve sans le savoir être un druide

Ce que j ai aime :
Assez original des fées et des druides avec comme pouvoir les 4 éléments feu, eau , terre et vent ça change des vampires et des garous
Ce que j ai moins aime :
La description du monde on sent qu il y a du potentiel mais on est pas dans quelque chose de spectaculaire non plus

Ce que je n ai pas trop aime
L héroïne pas assez kick ass a mon goût et l histoire d amour pas genialissime

Bref du potentiel sans non plus être le meilleur livre a voir ce que India Drummond prévoit dans le second tome

Ich fand die Geschichte sehr spannend geschrieben und habe mir auch mitlerweile den Band 2 und Band 3 gekauft.
Wer Fantasy-Geschichten mag, wird mich verstehen.
