I don't normally read murder mysteries but this one caught my interest (and will probably give me nightmares) really quick. It sure gave me a lot to think about. Can't wait to read the next one.

After reading the first six books of Mr. Hicks’ “In Her Name” series, I was pretty stressed out. His stunning development of interstellar first contact as a series (now up to ten books, I believe) brought together the elements of what it means to be human, and the seeming impossible challenge of finding a way to build a relationship with an alien race that considers humans as vermin.
So: Season of the Harvest
This story has a preface on the implications and dangers of genetically modified food. And then the story bursts into life with an assembly of characters you will come to love, an alien threat that will make your skin crawl, and a climax that had me muttering, “No! No! No! This is so unfair!” as it was pretty much guaranteed that the “heroes” had finally been done in. There is no cliff-hanger, however. Mr. Hicks finishes up with the same panache as he launched this blockbuster and I felt that every moment spent reading “Season of the Harvest” was time well spent.
Then: There are two more books taking up where “Season” left off – “Bitter Harvest” and Reaping the Harvest”. For this reader, life just keeps getting better and better

Wenn man davon absieht, daß die Aliens die Menschen auch ohne deren Hilfe hätten vernichten können - kann man das Buch als einigermaßen kurzweilig bezeichnen. Aber die Folgebände spare ich mir lieber....
