However, what Soft Target has is a very good story. The book follows a special task force in their hunt for terrorists both in American and the UK. The pace of the book is excellent and carries the reader through the book in no time at all. Like many thrillers the character development is somewhat limited but this is more than made up for with both the action sequences and the tension Conrad Jones creates in the novel. I also enjoyed the ending of the book, something many writers do not pull off particularly well.
Overall a good read, especially given that the book is currently available as a free download, with enough potential in the story for me to read the next book in the series.

I deducted one star for 3 reasons. First, early in the story there was an older character called Tank and shortly later there was a younger also called Tank and I wondered for awhile if it was a flashback, etc. before I realized it was a totally different Hank (not terrible bad but an unnecessary confusion caused by the aauthor for no reason), second the story was going along great and the terrorists were trying/doing many dastardly deeds and all of a sudden the story was ending with 3 or so less deeds then expected (depending on the name) then thirdly even though I liked the unexpected twist at the end of the book, the author had to set it up by seemingly having a terrorist thinking and proceeding on his get away then many pages later was back/just leaving a place that he was prior to where he was when he was leaving. It just did not seem to follow correctly. Probably should have deducted 2 stars, but I really enjoyed the story.
