It’s the little things. Sometimes I like to spread a little joy and love in my home. Just before the clothes dryer is done, and the clothes are still super hot, I quickly pull my hot robe out and put it on. Then I run around the house giving everyone warm hugs. Maybe I am being selfish. I always get the best hugs when wearing a hot robe from the dryer. They always stay just a little longer.

Heartwarming books with characters you’ll love: Welcome to Pajaro Bay.

Aspiring chef Bree Taylor thought she’d found a home at last, in the kitchen of Lassiter’s restaurant. Chef Henry Lassiter was not only her mentor, but a dear friend who regaled her with stories of his childhood home in Pajaro Bay. Henry’s sudden death shattered her world, leaving her as lost and grieving as his beloved old dog, Maisy. Now Bree has only one last task to complete for Henry: she will deliver the dog to Henry’s twin sister in Pajaro Bay. Then she can move on, and find some way to start over, as alone and adrift as ever.

But what she finds when she arrives is not the happy, cozy little village Henry had described, but a town full of mysteries she can’t understand, from his sister’s odd behavior, to the handsome doctor with eyes as rich as bittersweet chocolate who can’t seem to decide if he is attracted to her–or just wants her to leave him alone.

In the end, she’ll have to use everything Henry taught her, about faith and trust and believing in herself, to find a new path, with new friends, a new community, and the happily ever after Henry had always promised was waiting for her, whenever she was ready to take a chance.

Get away to the little California beach town where the cottages are cute, the neighbors are nosy, and it’s always possible to find your personal Happily Ever After.

SWAN (Gay Neurodiverse Comedies Book 1)
by Damian Jay Clay
4.6 Stars (3 Reviews)

FREE for a limited time

Music is oxygen. Love is messy. And growing up is louder than any amp.

Fourteen-almost-fifteen-year-old Signus Lomax is stuck between childhood and everything after. He knows three things for sure:

The band he plays in is the only thing holding him together, though it’s one argument away from falling apart.

His body never shuts up, whether it’s tics that won’t stay hidden or desires he’s not ready to name.

His dad’s chaotic past is louder than any guitar, and it won’t stop echoing.

This summer, everything shifts.
The band teeters on collapse.
The new boy next door might be perfect.
And his best friend, the one he’s shared late-night whispers and a bed with for years, might be slipping away for good.

As friendships fracture and futures close in, Sig is caught in the noise of becoming someone new. And when the music stops, the truth rushes in, raw and unstoppable.

SWAN is a funny, heart-punching coming-of-age novel about identity, first love, friendship, music, and the beautiful mess of growing up neurodiverse and queer.
