I am missing the most important ingredient for the Christmas cookies that I bake and hand out to my friends and family… Love. Yup, all out of Love. Okay, not really. I still love my friends and family, it’s just that I really really don’t want to spend two solid days baking cookies. It’s a lot of hard work and seriously rough on my back. I have a huge case of the lazies. Hubby says that it’s okay to bake only one or two different kinds instead of eight. Meh. I see all these people online chock full of the Christmas spirit making decorations, baking, and making awesome homemade gifts. I am over here in my sweatpants and robe trying to decide if I need the heating blanket on medium or high. My pups seems to keep it pretty hot naturally on my lap. No decisions need to be made right now. There is still plenty of December days left in the month. Medium heat. Yes, that’s the only decision to be made for right now.

Charleston Green: A Novel (Tipsy Collins Series Book 1)
by Stephanie Alexander
4.4 Stars (1,724 Reviews)

FREE for a limited time

If Tipsy Collins learned one thing from her divorce, it’s that everyone in Charleston is a little crazy — even if they’re already dead.

Tipsy, a gifted artist, cannot ignore her nutty friends or her vindictive ex-husband, but as a lifelong reluctant clairvoyant, she’s always avoided dead people. When Tipsy and her three children move into the house on Bennett Street, she realizes some ghosts won’t be ignored.

Till death do us part didn’t pan out for Jane and Henry Mott, who’ve haunted the house for nearly a century. Tipsy’s marriage was downright felicitous when compared to Jane and Henry’s ill-fated union. Jane believes Henry killed her and then himself, and Henry vehemently denies both accusations. Unfortunately, neither phantom remembers that afternoon in 1923. Tipsy doesn’t know whether to side with Jane, who seems to be hiding something under her southern belle charm, or Henry, a mercurial creative genius. Jane and Henry draw Tipsy into their conundrum, and she uncovers secrets long concealed under layers of good manners, broken promises and soupy Lowcountry air. Living with ghosts, however, takes a toll on her health, and possibly even her sanity. As she struggles to forge a new path for herself and her children, Tipsy has a chance to set Jane and Henry free, and release the ghosts of her own past.

Now, with a violent storm closing in, Eve is forced to return to the decaying family home she once fled. Her estranged father is still there – frail, paranoid, and haunted by something he refuses to name. As the wind howls and the floodwaters rise, Eve begins to suspect he’s not the only one still in the house.

Whispers in the dark. Cold fingers on her skin. A child’s voice crying for revenge.

As buried memories resurface and the walls seem to pulse with something alive, Eve uncovers a terrifying truth: Rebecca never really left. And what happened all those years ago is far more twisted than anyone ever admitted.

Is her father the monster she’s always believed him to be?

Or is something worse still hiding in the shadows?
