The smell of pumpkin spice is filling up our home right now. After Halloween I bring out my cheap pumpkin spice candle. The silly little candle in a jar lasts for at least three or four years. I burn it once and the scent continuously fills the air until I pack it back up after Thanksgiving. The first few minutes of burning is usually burning off the dust that had collected while it was stored in a cabinet. After that it smells less of burnt dust and more of fake pumpkin spice. Don’t get me wrong. There are some amazing more expensive candles that are well worth the price. And I just can’t resist the handcrafted ones I see at the holiday craft fairs. OH MY GOSH! The lovely scents they put together are incredible. I think I just really like the cheap one for nostalgic reasons. When I moved into my own apartment way way back in my 20’s, I couldn’t afford lavish items, but I really wanted my new place to feel cozy for the holidays. The cheap candle from the drug store was my only option. And I LOVED it! It’s funny how such a silly little thing can always take me back.
