Now it feels like the holidays have begun. I have my little spooky houses with their little spooky trees in the family room. The dining room has sparkly carnivorous plants of course hanging out with an emu egg I got for a dollar at at garage sale. The egg is always out, but next to the sparkly carnivorous plants it just works. All my classic style ghosts, cats, and skeletons are featured around the living room. The front yard is decked out with cute zombie silhouettes along the river of purple lights. I wasn’t exactly in the mood to put all the decorations up, but I really felt I needed to. Thankfully as soon as I opened the boxes and saw all the delightful characters my mood changed and it felt really good. If you’re not in the mood, start to decorate anyway. It might have a nice affect on you as it did me.

One buried body. Many hidden secrets.

When the body of an unknown teenage girl is discovered following a storm, the community of Birkbury closes ranks to protect their secrets.
As a seasoned detective, DCI Peter Hatherall’s expectation of solving the historic case is low. No local girls were reported missing twenty years ago, and she was buried in a field easily accessible from a major road. Beneath the villagers’ good manners and polite smiles, he discovers deep-seated resentments and family feuds spanning decades, but little interest in what happened to the girl. With only two initials engraved on the girl’s jewellery as a clue, he fears her death will remain a mystery.
But the possibility of a chance encounter at a race meeting and a baffling car accident leads Hatherall to believe there may be a local connection. He relentlessly chips away, pushing buttons until it becomes clear that the girl may not have been local, but the killer was. And they’re prepared to kill again to hide their identity.
If you enjoy mysteries in a rural setting with unpredictable twists, this book is for you.

Pressed into service as a translator and thrust into the center of humanity’s first contact with a cryptic alien race, Austin must uncover their true intentions before religious turmoil rips the planet apart. But with Austin caught between the Catholic Church, the US military, and an enigmatic alien AI, he’ll have to decide where his loyalties lie as the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.
