My partner in crime’s son, who also happens to be my oldest baby basset’s best friend just got his drivers license yesterday. His picture was posted on Facebook next to his car holding his license, so it’s official. Nothing is official until it is posted on Facebook. My oldest baby basset has had his learners permit for quite some time and has practiced driving a total of 5 hours over the last three or four months. The problem is I have a fear of riding in cars. Even when my hubby is driving. It doesn’t matter if the person has been driving for fifty years, I am still scared to death. I am starting to feel the pressure to teach my baby to drive. The last time I tried, I screamed the entire time. I followed each scream with a, “You’re doing great baby. Ignore me. AAAAHHHHHH!!! You’re doing great! AHHHH!!!! WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!” We got about two miles and I had to tap out. My youngest is turning 15 next month, so soon I will have two boys who need to learn to drive. Oh gosh! I can feel my heart in my throat. I think I will have to take my partner in crime’s offer and have her teach them during the week when hubby is working. ARRGGG!!! Breath breath.

On planet Earth, it’s aliens against humans and humans are losing the battle.

While a few brave humans are ready to fight to regain their freedom from their alien conquerors, the future of the human race falls on Khara, a woman whose sole focus is her personal fight for survival amidst abuse from her alien master. Despite her reluctance to become involved in the rebellion, she is thrown into its very center when she rescues a fellow slave from death at the hands of his alien master.

As the human population dwindles toward extinction and the rebellion hurtles toward the final hopeless battle, will a strange and reluctant pact between Khara and an alien lead to the possibility of survival? Or will the human race finally be eliminated once and for all?

Reminiscent of Blade Runner, this thrilling and fast-paced sci-fi noir story is told from both human and alien points of view, a la C.J. Cherryh, and puts a new twist on the idea of “first contact.”
