It was cute when it was goats in Starbucks, and pretty darn fun when it was chickens (now ducks) at our local Walgreens. I even loved the occasional cow wandering down the road, but the fun stops at mountain lions. We had one hanging around a few neighborhoods over from my house, and now authorities found another mountain lion snoozing in someones backyard a few towns over. I thought I just had racoons to worry about, not giant cats who can eat me, my family, or my little fuzzy babies. I REALLY hate the idea of being eaten. There is also a bear that sneaks around town. I am more worried about him nabbing my picnic basket though. Hahahaa… eehhh… Yikes. This Halloween, neither of my kids are going trick or treating as anything that is tasty to a mountain lion. So… that’s just about anything that moves, right? Oh Geez.

Fiji (The World Duology, #2) is a spellbinding novel of adventure, cultural misunderstandings, religious conflict and sexual tension set in one of the most exotic and isolated places on earth.

As the pharaohs of ancient Egypt build their mighty pyramids, and Chinese civilization evolves under the Shang Dynasty, adventurous seafarers from South East Asia begin to settle the far-flung islands of the South Pacific. The exotic archipelago of Fiji is one of the last island groups to be discovered and will remain hidden from the outside world for many centuries to come.

By the mid-1800’s, Fiji has become a melting pot of cannibals, warring native tribes, sailors, traders, prostitutes, escaped convicts and all manner of foreign undesirables. It’s in this hostile environment an innocent young Englishwoman and a worldly American adventurer find themselves.

Susannah Drake, a missionary, questions her calling to spread God’s Word as she’s torn between her spiritual and sexual selves. As her forbidden desires intensify, she turns to the scriptures and prayer to quash the sinful thoughts – without success.

Nathan Johnson arrives to trade muskets to the Fijians and immediately finds himself at odds with Susannah. She despises him for introducing the white man’s weapons to the very people she is trying to convert and he pities her for her naivety. Despite their differences, there’s an undeniable chemistry between them.

When their lives are suddenly endangered by marauding cannibals, Susannah and Nathan are forced to rely on each other for their very survival.

The Architectural Studio: The Creative Process of Building an Architecture Project
by Gilead Duvshani
5.0 Stars (9 Reviews)
Genre: Arts & Photography

FREE for a limited time

Learn and understand the creative process of building an architecture project.

This book describes the process of creating an architectural project, in an academic studio for architecture studies.

The process is built on the premise that architecture is a discipline of applied arts, which is why it is characterized by rational forward-thinking combined with emotional and artistic reasoning.

The process of architectural creation presented in this book begins with the development of an idea by an architect. Only after consolidating this idea and fitting it into the designated geographical site does the programmatic planning begin, merging with the theoretical composition.

Accordingly, two processes are especially highlighted: the emotional-creative reasoning as a foundation for developing the architectural project, together with its integration to its surroundings.

The book presents two aspects of the architectural creation. The first is the assimilation of the building in nature and the second is its assimilation in an urban environment.

All of the materials in this book are born from dozens of years of teaching in an architectural studio, and experience accumulated from teaching in schools in Israel and abroad.

As the book addresses the creative process, it is intended not only for those who teach or study architecture, but for anyone interested in creative processes in general.
