I just yelled at one of my plants for not growing. I was genuinely pretty mad at it. It’s a Stag horn fern, so you know how moody and stubborn those guys can be. Seriously though!! Make up your mind! Do you want to be inside or out?? I can’t keep babying you like this! You know… the succulents never act like this. They are happy no matter where I put them. Jerk

“Those who escape ‘the system’ are left to survive outside society. The fortunate find places in off-grid communities; the others disappear into the wasteland.”

The year: 2061. In the new UK megacities, the government watches every move you make. Speech is no longer free — an ‘offensive’ word reaching the wrong ear means a social demerit and a hefty fine. One too many demerits? Job loss and eviction, with free transport to your nearest community for the homeless: the Hope Villages.

Rae Farrer is the ultimate megacity girl – tech-loving, hard-working, law-abiding and content – until a shocking discovery about her birth forces her to question every aspect of life in UK Megacity 12.

On the other side of the supposedly safe megacity walls, a few wastelanders suspect that their freedom cannot last forever…

This kitsch-loving bar owner will have to leave behind everything she’s ever known.
Chloe Frangipani doesn’t believe in fairy tales or happily ever afters, but she’s darn near perfectly happy as the owner and manager of Ephemeral, a martini bar that offers good drinks, great music, and a wait staff that’s not only easy on the eyes but ready and willing to serve up their patrons’ fantasies.

When her friend and mentor, Buddy, goes missing, Chloe is determined to find him and bring him home safe to his pregnant wife. She enlists the help of a private investigator, Frost, a werewolf as cocky as he is handsome.

Together, they search for Buddy in the human world and in Rubalia, a fairy land ruled by Chloe’s grandfathers, the faun and fairy kings. Chloe will have to learn to play the part of princess, make nice with the wolfy detective, and stay alive long enough to bring Buddy home.

In Rubalia, Chloe discovers a world of violence that could endanger the fae in both realms. To save Buddy and the fae, Chloe will have to make sacrifices and take risks that could endanger the people she loves and her own happiness.
