The rain has kept me out of the garden, but the jerk weather hasn’t been there for me when my oldest baby basset tells me it’s time to go for a jog. He knows I hate jogging, but he also knows I want to support his efforts to stay in shape. Not to mention that I am his home-school PE teacher. Just out of bitterness I drag my youngest basset into the mix as well. I tell him it’s for his own good, and that is about 75% true. But it most certainly is 25% true that if I gotta suffer, we ALL gotta suffer.

Having recently come to terms with her psychic gift of communicating with the comatose, all Kat Parker wanted was a bit of relaxation and to replace her broken cell phone. But her uncle’s death reveals a new and potentially dangerous wrinkle to her abilities — she can see and talk with the dead.

Phoneless, fed up, and fearful for her sanity, Kat is still determined to help her uncle. Discovering he had more than a few secrets, she embarks on a treasure hunt for the one object she believes will help him rest in peace. Standing in her way is the CIA, a Mexican drug cartel kill squad, a group of mask-wearing gang members, and a wild alligator determined to eat her pet turtle.

As things spiral out of control, the absurdity of it all has Kat wondering if she hasn’t already gone insane, if she’ll be forever saddled with babysitting her uncle’s spirit, and if she should even bother to replace her phone.

Captain Pietr Jesik of the Boundary Patrol Cutter Lentissimo is having a bad day, particularly when a small space roundabout piloted by two cadets from the prestigious Kalenden Arms Academy make a bombing run on the sulfur pools on Kalenden’s primary moon. The shimmering dust cloud that is thrown thousands of kilometers into the sky makes for a dazzlingly beautiful display, not unlike the Northern Lights on ancient Earth, but it’s bound to stir up controversy in the Quadrant Council.

In a sweeping saga that crosses hundreds of parsecs of space, Assault on Cambriol tells the stories of Pietr Jesik, his first officer Thomas Brighton, and Lieutenants Travis Eaves and Sean Magill as they are called upon to work their way through intricate battles, both military and political. If they fail there will be all-out war between the Earth Descendencies, with tension running high at the historic “Manhattan Trials” among these colonies long isolated from their shared roots in ancient Earth.

Tents and Tent Stability: A Month-Long Camping Adventure In Germany – In a Rather Dodgy Tent!
by Chris Lown
4.4 Stars (175 Reviews)
Genre: Humor & Entertainment | Travel

FREE for a limited time

As he heads rapidly towards his fifties and realises that the most exciting event in his life is the arrival of a new range of men’s winter pullovers at Marks & Spencer, Chris Lown embarks on an adventure that he hopes will quell his growing feeling of middle-age restiveness.
With his backpack, his walking boots and the cheapest, most unreliable tent that money can buy, Lown sets off on an ill-fated camping expedition around the national parks and nature reserves of Germany. His mission: to explore Germany’s rustic countryside and historical towns, meet the local people, eat their cheese and drink their beer. Whether riding a draisine in the Uckermark National Park, witnessing the spectacle of rabbit showjumping in Jena or bathtub racing on the Edersee, Lown takes in the sights and dissects the culture as he zigzags his way around all sixteen of Germany’s states. But his tent doesn’t fare quite so well. After it survived an act of wanton vandalism, battled against inclement weather and was torn to shreds by a fox with a rapacious appetite and a penchant for Knackwurst, Lown is finally forced to concede that buying a cheap tent wasn’t the wisest of decisions.

Country Baking Quick Breads and Muffins (Delicious Recipes Book 13)
by June Kessler
4.0 Stars (79 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine

FREE for a limited time

Quick Breads can be made in minutes, since they do not require the prolonged kneading and lengthy rising and proofing. Instead of yeast, these breads are made with rising agent such as baking powder or baking soda that begins to release gas bubbles the moment it is moistened. When making quick breads, it is important to blend the wet ingredients separately and combine then just before baking. Swift, gently mixing is essential because if the batter is beaten too vigorously, the gluten in the flour will strengthen the mixture and the texture of the loaf or muffins will be tough. Also added some of our favorite coffee cake recipes, perfect with morning coffee, snacks or desserts.
