I feel pretty dumb right now, but also pretty grateful. The bee colony I had named Swarmy was once again swarming. This has become a daily occurrence now, and it was stressing me out like you would not believe. I really can’t have thousands of bees flying all of the yards of my neighbors every day. I called my partner in crime as they were getting ready to swarm yet again, and I told her I can’t take it anymore. I wanted to pack them up and send them to the farm (her house with the big yard). We bounced ideas around while I was watching them do their thing, and as I described it to her she noted that maybe they were not swarming, but instead all coming out of the hive because they were too warm. Suddenly I was seeing what they were doing in a completely different view. I missed the most important detail. They were fanning the entrance of the box. DUH!!!! So I added another level to give them more space. I was getting upset for no reason. They are a strong successful colony doing what they do best, taking care of the hive. Adding the box might make it cooler for them.  If this is the case, then we might actually get some honey this year!!!
