I feel kinda bad for my sweet baby chicks. They spend so much time in their little boring box. When they are not in their box, they are being held by us, but they don’t seem to enjoy it. Every time I look in the box they peep peep so loud as if to say, NOOOO! NOT THE GIANTS AGAIN! I could have sworn when I was reaching for them, one tripped the other to make her easier to catch while she made a run for it behind the feeder. Even at such a a young age I am starting to see glimpses of their personalities. One of the orpingtons is very docile and relaxes quickly in your hands. Baby chicks are cute, but I am looking forward to seeing what they grow up to be like.

Derek may or may not deserve to be stalked by an unhinged ex-marine – he’s not sure. He did kill the man’s entire family in a car accident, and he may have been drinking, though thanks to the resulting coma he can’t remember much about that day. And that’s okay, because Derek is learning all about it from the district attorney as he explains to the jury why the young painter should go to prison. Prison isn’t right now, though – it isn’t breaking into his home, stabbing him, or kidnapping him at gunpoint. And managing his stalker would be much easier if Derek could see him coming. But, he’s incapable of recognizing the man tormenting him, or anyone else. Can’t even recognize his own face in the mirror. Since Derek woke up from his coma, he’s been face blind: a rare condition that renders him unable to identify people by their appearances. Anyone in Derek’s world of strangers could be his stalker. In this mind-bending thriller, the talented painter is pushed to a tipping point as his reality unravels at the hands of a madman.

Stylized and divisive, The Blue is far from a happy summer read.Part gritty suspense novel, part experimental literature in the vein of Camus or Joyce, it is a story for readers seeking a thought-provoking thrill. On the surface, Kelly’s provocative novel is about a man’s quest for redemption. Dig deeper and it asks questions about the nature of guilt, innocence, reality and revenge.

“This is the story of the groundwork that paved the way to my faith. It is not an easy story to tell…”

This powerful memoir from Grammy Award winner Ashley Cleveland reminds us that even in the lowest times of our lives, beauty can shine through. As a young woman from a deeply flawed family, Ashley had little hope she would amount to anything. If there was trouble, near or far, she found it. Yet, in her destructive days of drugs, alcohol, and sex, she encountered a forgiving God who was relentlessly faithful. Change did not come quickly. The brokenness did not disappear. But little by little, Ashley allowed God to heal her, to transform her desires, to bring courage to others through her journey. Little by little, she saw that it was her brokenness itself that God wanted to use. This beautifully told story will take you from the back rooms of Nashville to the churches of the San Francisco Bay area to a tender new life where one woman discovers that God can work in broken places.

Seventy-five years ago, the dragons fell from the sky. We thought they were just meteorites — six terrifying explosions rang the world like a bell. When the dust settled, we went on with our lives as though nothing had happened. More than a decade later, five of the eggs hatched. The dragons that emerged were small and weak. They kept to the shadows, working in secret to persuade people to do their bidding, offering magic as payment and reward. Years passed… and still we didn’t notice the evil growing in our midst. The war began suddenly. Survivors called it the ‘apocalypse’ — nine billion people killed in an afternoon. Then the dragons revealed themselves, burning huge swaths of what remained, taunting and mocking and murdering the survivors. Four leaders arose: The Wizard, the Dragon Rider, the Monk, and the Dragon Slayer. Allied with the rebel dragon, they waged war for years until they too were defeated, scattered, or killed. When the war ended, only one dragon remained… but that single dragon was enough to plunge the world into tyranny.
