I was seeing posters around town about some sort of chicken event and I was so excited about seeing new breeds of chickens. I know I am not going to buy any more, but it’s always fun to look. My hubby and I chatted back and forth about how I wouldn’t get another one, and how great our flock was. I was getting giddy. I took a closer look at the flyer and it was a BBQ fundraising event. Those weren’t going to be happy chickens.

When Mrs Thomas Barrington was so inconsiderate as to depart this world without so much as a ‘ by your leave’, leaving two daughters to burden their aunts and precious little else to cover their maintenance, their futures looked very uncertain indeed. Of course, it was entirely natural that two young ladies of 19 and 7 would feel bereft at the loss of their mama, but to Miss Lydia and Miss Susan Barrington their change in circumstances demanded a total and somewhat painful adjustment to their whole way of life. With their father less than two years dead and no male relative available to render them assistance it quickly became apparent that they must learn to shift for themselves. Even this might have proved tolerable. After all, Lydia was an independent sort of a girl, more than capable of holding her own against importunate tradesmen, and more than happy to bring her younger sister up on her own. It would not do, however. The state in which Lydia discovered the family affairs made independent existence quite out of the question. In spite of all her best efforts, within a few months of her mama’ s death, and scarcely out of full mourning, it became apparent to her that there was nothing to be done but to acknowledge the inevitable and appeal to her relations for help….
It is 1810. Lydia, now penniless, is forced to seek a home with an aunt and uncle who have no interest in her whatsoever. But there are plenty of others with an interest in her – including the handsome but selfish son of the family – her cousin Charles – and two elegant brothers who live nearby. Each, in his own way, poses an intriguing challenge to her. Luckily Lydia is well able to look after herself but she gets into a number of scrapes which almost cost her any chance of happiness before finally managing to sort things out in the end.
This light and amusing Regency romance combines elements of both Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen to provide the ‘ feel good’ factor that readers of this genre particularly enjoy.

The debut novel from “American Pie” series screenwriter David H. Steinberg. It’s the last weekend before high school graduation, and as they prepare to go their separate ways, four life-long friends spend a wild and raucous night in New York City that forces them to face their fear of growing up… and growing apart.
West Hartford, Connecticut. Growing up in the suburbs is a mind-numbingly boring experience for most teenagers, and high school seniors Dylan, Noah, Pike, and Walker are no exception. They spend their days testing how fast they can drive on the local residential streets, bribing homeless dudes to buy them beer, and attending crappy house parties. So when Dylan proposes that they spend their last weekend of high school in New York City attending an underground rave, the guys are ready to make some serious memories.
In New York, though, the guys have run-ins with a drug dealer with a penchant for fire extinguishers, a Chinese restaurant owner with a score to settle, an Albanian street gang, con men, hookers, performance artists, and a gaggle of hot, degenerate, rich girls. Over the course of one incredible night, their outrageous journey gives the guys a bonding experience they’ll never forget, as they learn that part of growing up means they’re going to have to face their futures on their own.

Genre: War

The war for the independence of South Sudan has lasted longer than the average life expectancy of its inhabitants. Experience what it would be like to live in a place where even unending war was not the worst thing you faced.
“ The war threatened our lives. The Evil Thing threatened our souls. Both would force me onto a path not of my own choosing. It was a path I had already begun on the day I got the mark.”
With these ominous words, a young herdsman begins the tale of his transformation into a hardened soldier in war-torn Sudan. As his journey takes us from peaceful villages to remote cattle camps, he encounters a man who learned unspeakable practices from the infamous Joseph Kony of the Lord’ s Resistance Army. The herdsman pursues the man into the heart of Sudan’s seemingly endless civil war. It was at the beginning of a time when the Evil Thing would gorge itself upon the leavings of war and spread across this hard land, a place so vast that whole tribes are swallowed up in its belly and invaders expend themselves in the fruitless pursuit of vapors.
